RIP to Mr. Biffle and all who perished, praying.

When I worked at Kentucky Speedway he was always so kind.

Keslowski broke his leg skiing. Not a good way to start the year.

Steve Phelps is stepping down at NASCAR:

Steve Phelps stepping down.

Now if we can get Steve O'Donnell to GTFO, NASCAR may be righting the ship somewhat.

Rumors are leaking that the playoff format will go back to a 10 race chase.

Would not be surprised. NASCAR leadership can't read the room and won't give the majority of the fans what they want, which is a full season champion.

I'm indifferent to it all. I'm guessing though the TV contracts are valued higher on the back end of the season due to the "Playoffs" so you won't see a full season points championship.

they’re filling one of their five trucks in a first-of-its-kind way. And they’re getting help from UFC CEO Dana White to do so. In partnership with Thrill Sports Productions, Ram is launching "Race For The Seat," a new reality competition series featuring 15 aspiring drivers to win the chance of a lifetime: earning a spot in the Ram 1500 race trucks on the Kaulig Racing team for the 2026 season

Racing fans will watch eight action-packed episodes where contestants will go head-to-head not only on iconic tracks, including Virginia International Raceway and South Boston Speedway, but also showcasing their chops off it.

The winner of the reality show will be the fifth and final driver on the Kaulig Racing Team, which already has Brenden "Butterbean" Queen, Daniel Dye and Justin Haley on board for 2026. The fourth driver is also an outside-the-box idea, and it was announced in November 2025 that a unique Free Agent Program for the #25 Ram truck for Kaulig Racing would be had to allow "the flexibility to bring in talent while keeping fans on their toes."

The show will premiere in the U.S. on FOX on Jan. 25 at 12 p.m. ET, with new episodes airing for free across the globe on Ram’s official YouTube Channel for the show from Jan. 26-Feb. 6.

Adam Stern
@A_S12

NASCAR says it will announce its new championship format tomorrow, and industry execs are predicting a system that puts a greater emphasis on points earned during the entire season but without going fully back to the traditional formula used before 2004.

Kept stages, TV was likely pushing that as programmed commercials.

I like the change. Maybe could have given each team 1 mulligan for plate races and engine failures. So 10 races and best 9 count. But they didn’t. It means contending teams might not race as hard in plate races to not get in big wreck.

Its a start though. Better than before

I’m still team full season. The chase is a step in the right direction, but I still don’t like it. They did increase the points for a win. I’d argue they didn’t increase it enough. 20 points should be it. If they did an f1 like increase for the top ten, it would be better. It would push the guys near the front to go harder. If I’m in 4th, why push for 3rd if I don’t think I can win?

I wish they’d cut points at 30. Also, need to get rid of repair clock since points matter.

Another note is some teams were locked in chase early and used rest of season to prep for chase. Now they have to treat all important.

And to that point, you had locked in chasers talking big gambles in races that really messed up overall race flow and strategies.

And you won’t lose fans during chase as its 10 races vice dropping teams.

Here’s the reset points for final 16.

Also, someone redid points thru 2025 using new points scale:

Kyle Bush missing.
