I think they went the wrong way with the 2 mandatory pit stops
they should have said no mandatory pit stops and if you can get to the end on one set of hards, go for it
track position would be in competition with tire offset and race pace delta, could lead to some interesting decisions as well as some passes once that delta gets big enough

The current F1 cars are not passing at Monaco

Back in the day, only 16 cars ran at Monaco, and the cars are a lot bigger now.

I have been following F1 somewhat seriously for about 5 years, but remember the Schumacher era.
Why are the support teams never really discussed nor shown on the broadcasts, or anywhere really? You might get a half second shot of the pit crew reacting to something but that is about it.

They all proved last year they could do this with relative ease. Tires really don’t matter in Monaco

I don't see Monaco being removed from the schedule given its high profile. Toto's right in saying that the only real way to change the race is to alter the course, and there are wider streets north of the current course, but getting another route approved for safety is another matter and may be impossible so seems like we're stuck with the procession once a year.
And I don't thinks teams and sponsors would be interested in spending money on a different car dedicated just to Monaco.

Heck, keep going with more pit stops. Make it so you can only run max of 18 laps between stops, that would spice it up to 4 stops.
And give them a push to pass but different than Indy. If you are within a car length you push button and it activates a free pass light on car ahead. They have 10 seconds to let you pass. Limit of 3 per race and can’t use on last lap or first 2 laps.
Just kidding but this race is always a parade.

I've always heard Monaco will remain because it's basically the F1 European trade convention that just happens to have a race for fun. Lots of deals cut on the yachts in the harbor. Singapore is similar, but for Asian business deals.

Monaco is never going away and the cars are too big for the narrow streets
Both are true and will remain true.

Yes, this race is all about money and movers/shakers making an appearance than it is about racing. Lots of the ads you see on the cars (sponsors) have their big wigs there in person. Its more about the show than the race. Its never going away.
Perhaps they should make it half points due to the lack of passing

Not sure you can do anything other than reduce car size.
I would be down to brain storm a way to make the cars push. I think if you push you’ll see wrecks and a bit of chaos.
Maybe George gave us a glimpse of that. If the penalty was only 5 seconds that would have messed with Williams.
I can’t pass but if I do I’ll for sure stretch out 5 seconds so F-it.

I saw this description of the Monaco race in the arfcom F1 thread:
‘It's old, it looks pretty, and it doesn't actually do anything, but it harkens back to a time when stronger men than us fought for glory upon untamed, dangerous beasts. Now it sits there on some velvet for you to stand behind the rope and gaze at.’

Give points from 1-20th position. Incentivize racing outside the Top 10. Think it would help all races.

I honestly can't see myself ever watching another Monaco race. It's kind of sad that such a crap race is considered the premiere race of the year.
They'll never remove it from the schedule but to even call that a "race" is an insult to the word race. It's cliche to say now but it truly is a parade not a race.
I wish the announcers would actually be semi critical of it during the broadcast. They did say the two pit stop thing didn't really add anything at all but it'd be nice if they said some real changes need to be made.

Heck do like Indy car and make the cars without power steering. Make the cars harder to drive.
