quote:He probably shouldn't have yelled out "Wreck him, Wreck Him, Yeah!" on a live recorded feed. If he had just said "11 down low, 11 down low, clear, bring her home" he gets nothing. You can't have team members in the drivers ear telling them to wreck another competitor.
So the guy making the least money(spotter) takes the biggest hit. So NASCAR.

Can't argue, but Dillon got a relative slap on the wrist.

I agree. I just hope RC and the 3 don't think they are now devoid of retribution or will be given any leeway by his fellow competitors as long as he is in the series. He showed his true colors on Sunday and in his talks since then. Then again self-awareness isn't AD's strong suit, see last year when he wrecked himself and tried to throw his helmet at Reddick because he had to blame someone and he definitely doesn't realize he isn't anything more than a mid packer that can find wins every year or two.

The only thing I think they got wrong was no one race suspension for the right hook, and I think Joey got off light. Personally think it should have been $75k, but other than that it seems about right.
Pretty much how I feel

He was literally vouching for Dillon to hit both Hamlin and Joey on the radio. That's premeditation defined.

I'm surprised by the playoff penalty but we have seen that happen with MWR years ago.

next time you have a wreck near the end of the race and one driver is comfortably ahead it's time to call the race, stop all this bs restarting

I'm a little surprised by the playoff penalty too, even though I don't necessarily disagree with it. I thought Dillon might keep the spot, but get a race suspension.
Logano got off light based on his in-car footage on pit lane after the race.

You still think Katie Ledecky is washed IYO?

It's all Ricky's fault. He wasn't even racing for position and wreaked. Under any of the old rules Austin would win. Single file restart, he wins. Finish under caution he wins. NASCAR created the drama and now fine a guy for doing what he did. But it made for a great week of discussion.

I’m not surprised at Dillon. I know about the precedent but I would have bet my bank account he wouldn’t get parked. Elliott and Wallace have reason to be angry but it is what it is.
I’m not surprised at the spotter. I think it’s a fair penalty.
I think Logano got off about $100,000 too light.

I’m wondering if NASCAR kept their hot pit road security tight, what would have been Logano’s penalty? I was surprised it was only $50k.

I think that's a fair question and wonder if that played into the seemingly lighter fine. I've seen multiple comments since Sunday night wondering why Dillon's family and others were allowed out there while cars were still rolling.

RCR says they don’t agree with the penalty and will appeal. So it ain’t over.

This precedent will only allow Nascar to start manipulating the outcomes whenever they see fit. Where’s the line going to be drawn on contact? Was Larson running into Buescher earlier not enough? Was Chastain taking out Almendinger and Bowman on the road course not enough? When Logano wrecked Byron on purpose was that not enough?

NASCAR doesn’t need to over officiate. But they need to start drawing a line. Mike Helton and his mustache are missed.

And the bitching starts
Nobody hates their sport moreso than NASCAR fans.

From X:
2004 NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Kurt Busch is facing DWI charges, plus charges of careless and reckless driving, and speeding charges following his arrest on Monday, August 12 at 11:32 PM.
Per Iredell Free News, the 46-year-old retired NASCAR driver was pulled over for speeding after an Iredell County Sherriff’s Office deputy clocked his 2024 Lexus traveling at 63mph in a 45mph zone on Brawley School Road, according to court documents.
Deputy Zalepka reported that Busch, who lives in Mooresville, North Carolina, “had red glassy eyes” and “a strong odor of alcohol coming from his breath,” according to court records, per Iredell Free News.
He blew an 0.17.
