SVG’s next start is guaranteed to finish better than today. Since his win at Chicago in his debut, every finish has been worse than the previous one. Had first gear burn up at COTA. Shuffled out of the pack at talladega. Rain cut Charlotte short. And today. NASCAR shouldn’t have sent the race back green when they did, then he gets wrecked by someone driving over his head. Daytona is guaranteed to be better for him. Lol

Hell they tried and failed to outbid Indy car for Long Beach.
thank God this did not happen
Nascar needs to come up with some
actual good ideas (not the chase and overtime) of their own and stop copying Indycar (street courses, safer barrier, going to our tracks - Gateway, Kentucky, Homestead, Chicago, Hyrbidization)

Wonder what it be like if NASCAR did a full timed race. No stages, no laps. Just 2 hours to get your shite in.
I dunno guys I’m bored on a Sunday

safer barrier
NASCAR shouldn’t use safer barriers now?

If we’re racing to a certain time, why did NBC take away the countdown clock?

Safer Barrier was invented by Indianapolis Motorspeedway in conjunction with the University of Nebraska

What’s the point of rain tires if they won’t run in the rain, even if it’s flooding?
NASCAR has gone completely pussyfied. They have ruined it.
They did run in the rain. What's the point in continuing to run if the drivers can't see, they say it's dangerous, and puddles are collecting on the course, thereby making the rain tires useless anyway?

Got it, but why is it bad that NASCAR and tracks that host NASCAR events adopted it?
I get saying that they shouldn’t copy certain things from Indycar, but why wouldn’t NASCAR utilize a great safety technology like the safer barrier?

these are* supposed * to be world class drivers
if gentlemen drivers in GTLM or LmP2 can negotiate monsoon conditions at Lemans or Sebring, these guys should be able to handle wet conditions , as nascar is supposed to the pinnacle of touring car racing in the US

I don’t understand why NASCAR has a street race through a big city. It’s like they’re trying to be F1. They should be catering toward their own crowd. Like MLB doing field of dreams, nascar should stick to its fanbase and roots. Instead of having a street race through a city, why not bring back a half pavement/half beach race or something more related to nascar?
I’m pretty sure I could do a better job marketing for NASCAR than who ever is in charge now. Whoever is running the show at nascar doesn’t know the demographic, or they think they’re going to expand the demographic. But what they’re actually doing is pushing away their real fanbase, and not gaining anyone.

They get exposed in these kinds of races. Nascar at COTA ain't much better.
ETA: I’m not trying to be a jerk about it. I enjoy Nascar. Not so much races like this.

NASCAR’s focus is attracting younger fans. They don’t care about people who were fans of the NASCAR of 25-30+ years ago, unfortunately. They think events like this will attract younger fans. They think more technology, such as the EV prototype, will attract younger fans.

NASCAR doesn't WANT to stick to its roots. That's their biggest problem.

Joey Hand is about to win a NASCAR Stage

if nascar wants to expand the demogrpahic they need to get rid of the current crapwagons and adopt a Gt3 ( with added protection for ovals) or a DTM(pre 2021) or Super Gt spec
hell make them like trans am like from
the 80s and 90s
but outside of the bumping and banging there is nothing entertaining about watching these cars drone around a micky mouse street course lay out where they are barely hitting 120 mph

lmao are they really throwing a caution for a stage break with only like 30 min of racing remaining

I like a diverse schedule. I like road racing. Yes I know I can watch literally any other asphalt series to run on them. I watched Aussie V8s last night at midnight. I watch the 24 hour races. Indy. F1. I like the idea of a street race. So long as the execution of said race goes relatively well. The track is challenging. SVG is one of the top 5 racers in the world, and he’s admitted how difficult this course is. The problem you run into is when the sanctioning body does not believe in common sense.
Now me I’d like 40 races on the schedule but that ain’t happening. I still wish there was a legit dirt oval on the schedule. Test the drivers. Throw all kinds of diversity at them. We market these guys as the best in the world. Test them.

You want it with the bark off?
NASCAR isn’t … no professional sports league is for that matter, and college sports is getting about as bad … interested anymore in a fan base made up of conservative Caucasian men from the rural and middle class Southeast and lower Midwest who don’t fall into the 18-49 age group.
Call it woke, call it stupid, call it shortsighted, call it destructive, call it whatever you want to call it. It is what it is.
