They're pretty good in WEC and IMSA. I think they could do well in F1.

Not switching my loyalty but I will absolutely support this team until they give me a reason not to.

Is Mario gonna move to the UK to run the team? Do they go after a driver with experience for one of the seats? Danny Ric? Bottas?

That's not unusual.

Mario will be little more than a figurehead at his age.

And why bring in drivers that just got tossed off the grid due to their lack of performance? People need to come to grips with the fact Ric is done. As is Boatass.

i believe when andretti was handling the bid their operations would be based out of their existing facilities in indiana. very interesting to see how this works with gm now in charge.

Bro Mario is 84 years old.

This is why I was asking. Seems odd to put an old man in charge of something like this. They have built a facility in Silverstone and hired 200+ people to work there. Seems like the leader would have to spend a decent amount of time there getting the team fully set up.

The board of directors typically are not executives running the company. The board oversees the executives and presumably are the ones who hire and fire the CEO.

Edit: Hmm, a sort-of correction. I did a search and was shocked to find out that in 44% of S&P 500 companies, the CEO is also chairman of the board! I would have guessed less than 20% for sure.

"Average shareholder support for proposals on CEO/chair separation remains around 30%." That's surprising. I think it's a conflict of shareholder interest to not separate it.

"This trend is declining as more companies separate the roles." I think this is good.

So anyway, based on this, it is reasonable to think that the person named the Chairman of the board of directors is also the CEO running things.

The Race just put up a good article going over everything Cadillac/GM related:

LINK

quote:

That’s what this accepted entry, as Cadillac F1, leans into. It’s GM’s F1 team, fully embracing the Cadillac brand, rather than an Andretti F1 team that has Cadillac stickers on it. GM is set to own the team alongside its partner TWG Global, and going full Cadillac means we can expect it to really be in the Cadillac Racing image: there is already a low-res and questionable render shared by GM and Cadillac of a blue and white livery with Cadillac Racing accents. It will start life as a customer team before morphing into a fully-fledged works team when the GM/Cadillac engine is ready – this was originally slated to be 2028, but is now being referred to as “by the end of the decade”. The arrangement is an F1 version of what ‘Cadillac Racing’ has been in sportscars - where its top-level entry is developed in conjunction with Dallara and run by the likes of Chip Ganassi Racing.

Non executive role, not involved with day to day operation. So he’s just gonna be a figure head for the organization.

Sainz would be a good pick for them. He supposedly wasn’t interest in Audi because they were going to be a new team and struggle for a few years. He might feel the same way about Cadillac or maybe having to sign with Williams has humbled him a bit.

Could also see them going after Alex Palou. He’s already driven for Cadillac Racing in Le Mans.
