The DR meat riding / tributes all over social media today has been insane. You’d think the guy just died.

Bottas stays at Sauber

Checo, Danny Ric, Zhou are all out

ETA: This is all after Danny Ric gets promoted for second half of 2024 and Lawson goes to RB, then Danny Ric doesn’t perform.

Good so far except that DR didn’t get the promote (but still flamed out)

I have more laugh out loud moments watching his videos than about anything else. He's very clever and is really good at video editing. The Michael Masi death machine video was crazy.

I agree his personality was good for F1 and could see him sliding into a sky sports role if/when he is done racing for good. I think he would be good at that.

Maybe he can replace the announcer who is in the pit lane that talks about pit stop and when cars are in the garage. Seems like a really nice guy but his commentary is just awful. He'll use these dumb sayings that make no sense. They're normally British humor stuff but they still don't make sense. Just random stuff like "Those tires are hot. You know it's like when your mum made Shepherds pie but the peas weren't in it hahaha". I'm like wtf is this dude talking about

Sky Sports is British coverage. They are always going to lean towards British sayings (which I enjoy along with their humor) ande they will favor the British drivers.

Ted Kravitz. Sometimes I like to watch his 30 minute show “Ted’s Notebook” after qualifying or the race where he walks around the paddock and gives a run down of all ten teams. When it’s just him talking it’s ok but his interviews always leave the person being interviewed wondering wtf. It’s like he makes it awkward on purpose. Went from asking Lando and Oscar a quick question the other day to commenting on Oscar’s perceived lack of body hair, it was odd.

That pretty much sums it up

I can see him being better in that 30 minute, non race/broadcast setting. He's just a little bit too much of a gimmicy type to be on a main broadcast for me. It's be like if the NFL had a sideline reported that just tried to tell jokes every time they handed it over to him. Not a big deal at all, he's just not really my cup of tea.

Is this the end of the Andretti F1 saga?

Very bizarre news. But maybe it's the opposite? Maybe he's selling controlling interest to some person or organization that has more clout or leverage in the F1 world? That would make sense because otherwise, this is a super strange move since he intends to stay with the company.

It still kind of irritates me they are being denied entry when they have fricking developmental teams allowed on the circuit.there was zero legitimate reason to deny Andretti, especially when he had a major auto manufacturer backing it.

I thought about this also. Maybe he ruffled too many feathers and they told him to step back if he wants any chance of joining.

Also wonder if Ford partnering with Red Bull had anything to do with it. Maybe they don’t want GM joining right when they do and stealing some of their shine.

Andretti convinced Towriss / Guggenheim to buy into the team for over $200M upon the premise that he can turn Andretti Global into a giant racing franchise with teams in the worlds pre-eminent disciplines.

Now that Andretti has struck out on F1, plus the failure of the SPAC/ Zapata IPO that wasted another $200M of Towriss/Guggenheim funds , I think his benefactors realized its time to take control.

Keep in mind Gainbridge is also paying an additonal $30-40M per year to run Herta, Ericsson, and Kirkwood’s Indycar entries

People finally figured out he's an enormous, entitled, assclown that others don't want to work with.

I kind of feel bad for Perez. He's been a humble guy who knows his role and just does his best to support and back up Max. He knows what he is and what he isn't. He doesn't deserve the shite that F1 fans give him for sucking.

How does this affect their relationships with Ferrari and Dallara?

Wow, good question. I’m sure it’s over with besides the engine supplier for a bit. Haas has flailed as it is, might as well milk another company for a few years.

Ridiculous. Do better F1.

But in any case it should be an exciting end to the season.
