Lando created a substantial separation from Oscar early in the season,
He's only up by 50 right now... Unless they are going to declare that he is their #1 driver, which they won't because they don't want to piss off Piastri when he will end up being the better driver, they need to let them race.
Situation is completely different than a Bottas/Ham or Checo/Max situation when the team is clear who is priority and who runs interference.
Again, if they do what I stated below, then sure, I'm ok with it.

Lando needs to learn how to start and drive the first lap.

I feel like people are turning on Lando
1. He's too emo / beats himself up when he makes mistakes. Though very talented, seems mentally weak when the stakes are high. Doesn't have the killer instinct of champions.
2. He keeps botching his pole starts, a very visible example of not handling the pressure. His fans are getting very frustrated rooting for him.
Now I've never been a fan of Lando. I always thought he was talented and a potential future world champion, but I was kind of indifferent to him. But then when he broke the porcelain Hungarian GP trophy, laughed about it, and then after learning more about it (handmade, takes six months to make), he still reacted inappropriately. He came off as a rich kid who doesn't know the value of things.
On the other hand, I've become a fan of Oscar Piastri-Leclerc. He's gotten better and better, and the whole vibe around him, his mom, and his smokin' hot girlfriend is very positive.
But I still think McLaren should tell Oscar to take a back seat and fully support Lando's campaign for WDC. This is coming from someone who hated the way Ferrari treated Barrichello.

FP1
At least three red flags. First for what looked like a small part of machined aluminum sitting on the track. Also:
Chuck understeers into the wall.
FNG oversteers into the wall.

All we needed was for Checo to just straight up steer it into the wall for the trifecta.

There's still time in a few hours.
Jacques Villeneuve commentating FP1 is always somewhat interesting. He didn't dog Danny Ric this time.
I missed Lando being a prick about breaking the trophy the second time around last year. But he did spend time with the company and get that helmet made this year that seemed pretty respectful to me.

Needs to happen in quali or the race... If it does and Mclaren doesn't shite the bed, they will be first in constructors after Baku

FP2 was pretty clean besides Russel being sidelined with and engine problem. Leclerc’s car wasn’t put back together quite right and spent some more time in the garage but came out eventually and went quick again.
The most successful Baku driver on the grid, Perez, had a quick and clean FP2 as well.

I'mma going to go ahead and make my call now before qualifying. Max wins this weekend. New floor helps with the balance JUST enough to squeak out the win by three or five seconds.

Pretty bold choice at this point. I’d like to see Leclerc win it but could see it going to RUS or Norris.

Ok we're prioritizing Lando
And he's out in Q1

Lando can’t handle the pressure apparently
Not everyone can be Max/Lewis

Looks like his DRS wouldn’t open on the last long straight. That’s a death sentence at Baku.

So let’s get ahead of ourselves… Piastri finished top 3 and Lando out of the points.
Does McLaren go back to wide open Papaya rules since they will be within 25 or so points of each other?
