So he can start 11th instead of 12-20

Brain fart by me. I was so used to him getting pole.

That doesn't make any sense.
if he was 5th, take a 10 spot penalty and be 15th. So by qualifying 1st, he starts 11th. That doesn't make sense?

Every time Checo has what seems like the race that decides his fate, he manages to do well. Was so hoping he would throw it into the wall in Q1

Nevermind. I had a brain fart and need my coffee.

I'm so used to Max automatically being on pole most weeks that I always vision him starting in 10th place after a grid penalty.

Good day for perez, was on the edge q1 and q2 but pulled a lap when he needed it.
And now front row after q3.

Going to be interesting tomorrow when we see how the dry setup performs tomorrow.

The RB obviously has assloads if downforce, still .6 tenths off max. He still needs to go.

Not to mention a gust of wind was the difference between making Q3 and not

100%... The RB is what performed today, not him.

Also going through eau rouge flat out on a wet track at almost 200 mph must be terrifying

No single race should decide a driver's fate. One good race doesn't reassure anyone that Perez has found consistency again.

The question for the second half of the season is, do they want to hang on to Lawson? If they don't put him in a seat now, or announce him for 2025, then he is free to find another seat. As Marko has said a couple of times, they (or at least Marko ) want to put Lawson in a seat this year. So I think either Checo or Danny must get the boot over the summer. Danny is driving more consistently. I think Perez still needs to go.

So, what lap do we think Max passes Checo tomorrow? I'm guessing lap 25.

I’ll take the under on that. Hope it’s over but…

What chance does Leclerc have of winning it?

Depends on how much of a fight Merc/Mclaren put up in the middle... Unlike previous years when Max did it pretty easy, those teams are actually performing now.

I think Checo is gone no matter what, but its a certainty if he ends up out of the Top 5 after starting second with easily the fastest car.

Good point. Perez probably won’t be in 1st or 2nd when Max passes him.

A small one if Perez takes out the McLarens and Mercs in the first corner.

And Max grenades an engine.
