Even with the tire wall, that seems crazy dangerous, no?

Yeah I think that was half joking. There are two problems:

1. Going full speed through the tunnel and transitioning from the downhill portion back to the flat part at 180 mph would not go very well.

2. Even if they could fix #1, the next corner is a fast kink which works fine when you're accelerating from a slow chicane, but is not safe when the cars are already going full speed.

So yeah, it's never going to happen.

bottoming out at Eau Rouge ain't exactly a walk in the park and they are doing 180-190mph there.

So they would have to slow down? Isn't that what they did to enter that slow chicane?

Fantastic!

The 2011 Canadian GP was epic both in length and in the finish. Jenson Button's best race.

Last lap spoiler if you've never seen it:

IIRC, this race was so long that they later changed the rules to limit the total time that the event can take place. The total green flag time limit is two hours. But if there are red flag periods, the total time for the event cannot exceed three hours. It used to be four hours total, but in 2021 they reduced the total time to three hours.

...and we got like 7 hours of racing. I'm glad I tuned in some yesterday. Woke up today to see a parade through the fog before the race was called. Sucked to see the #99 BMW get taken out by a Porsche. They had been tearing it up all weekend.

They don’t race in the rain anymore.

Darn, I wish I had seen this last week. 70mm footage of Monaco 1962 scanned to 4K. If you can watch it in 4K on a big screen, it looks pretty good!

This is what I'm saying they should race at Monaco now. A small spec car with no downforce. Modern slicks but skinny. A simple v12 engine. Racing for WDC points. This would be sold as the drivers' race in equal machinery.

It should sound like this 1967 Honda RA300 v12. It's really worth clicking on this link!
