Uh they almost went poll to poll with the best record in the league in 2005 didn’t they? Then were dominate in the playoffs. Very good team

You don't sweep the WS without being a good team

They’re not tanking lol. The earliest they can pick is 10 because of baseballs new rules that prohibit big market teams from picking top 5 twice. Dumb arse rule. They clearly just suck….

The Bulls and White Sox are mirrored organizations of each other. Totally content with mediocrity. But now as Reinsdorf has gotten older, things have totally went off the rails. He’s a stubborn, old a-hole who checked out years ago. He just collects the massive amounts of money both organizations bring in while lazily promoting his own under qualified people from within. Both organizations are completely toxic. He lucked his way to MJ, which in a way is unfortunate because he’s truly one of the worst owners in NA American sports. Two iconic franchises just completely run into the ground.

Today the White Sox had a free baseball clinic for the kids. Free registration. All the slots were taken.
One problem: no one from the White Sox showed up.

… that’s on par for this season.

Maybe all the players intended to be part of this got released or sent to the minors.

I know it was Frank Thomas' last season with the Sox, but he only played a few dozen games, and none in the post season. Was there any other HOFer on that team?

Buehrle - multi time all star...great player during that era
A.J. Pierzynski - playing his best during that time
Konerko - multi time all star....great player

And a very good outfield in Podesnik, Rowand and Dye...

You should put a couple hundred on their money line if they are down to only needing one more loss. Easy profit. Might be able to get them at 2.5 to 1

Top to bottom, their lineup didnt scream "best team in baseball", but think it was a pitching dominant era coming out of the longball madness of the 90s.

The White Sox pitching was very good to great, but not any of the Braves of the 90s

Buehrle
Freddy Garcia- not at his Seattle best but still solid over 200 innings
John Garland - his one All Star year was 2005...had 3 Shutouts...very solid for ahwile
Jose Contreras - very solid during this time...over 200 innings
Orland Hernandez - wrong end of career but still great 5th

Plus throw in Bobby Jenks coming out of nowhere and being the closer after Edmundson (sp?) was the closer for most of the year.

Solid team top to bottom.

I know too much about this team from my Southside In Laws...

Sox have their best pitcher, Garrett Crochet 6-6, 3.24 ERA, going tonight against the Twins Bailey Ober who is 10-5, 3.76 ERA. Does the streak end tonight?

They are averaging something like 3.06 runs scored a game.

It’s a miracle they have as many wins as they do.

You’d need a rotation of Cy Young winners and a solid bullpen to win 50 games averaging that few runs per game.

‘05 WS was the closest sweep possible

All 4 games won in last AB, 2 in extras I think, and one in bot 9, the other top 9

One was the longest WS game in history to date. Finished at 1:20 am in the freezing cold of MMP due to a forced, open roof

Dustin Hermanson was the closer for most of the season, but he wasn't supposed to be.

Shingo Takatsu was the guy, and was even runner-up for Rookie of the Year in '04. He was getting rocked though, so Ozzie moved him to spot relief duty, then eventually released him.

One of my best friends is a die hard white sox fan who grew up on the south side. He says it’s awesome because tickets have never been cheaper
