Yeah but he’d still have had to get by him. Sucks but IMO the best car at the end won, that’s the way it’s supposed to be.

Was just thinking how quiet of a top 10 that was. I don't recall his name mentioned until Clint said something after the race.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I thought there was some fun racing in parts. Was obviously disappointed in the last caution with Reddick hunting down Bell, and bad luck unfortunately found Blaney again after the last restart, but it was entertaining overall.

Happy Easter gents.

Congrats to C Bell, he’s a wheelman.

Suarez ruined a chance to see a last lap pass or last lap wreck trying to pass - he caused that big wreck that ended race.

I wonder what would hapoen if someone else was put in the 23 car. His teamate is doing great meaning that garage has top notch cars. Plenty of drivers who deserve that chance but I’ll just leave it at that.

Nascar needs to go back to concrete and get the track owners to figure out how to get the real Bristol back. This dirt is just a gimmick. It has good moments sure, but all races do. But the many cautions prove this is not a good fit. Lots of the drivers are not dirt racers so this just caters to those who have background and for the rest its survival. Impossible to drive through field and can’t pit for tires except stage gimmicks.

Nascar doing their blind eye yellow/no yellow guessing game. Early race throw yellow for anything that moves left or right. After 2nd stage starts with a few yellows and hardly any green laps - Nascar went blind eye and we had 2 cars wrecking in different spots of track and no yellow then a 3rd one wrecking and they kept it green - maybe went on oiss break? Rest of night was just throw dart at board deciding to throw yellow or not. No consistency whatsoever. We had 360’s in traffic no yellow. Then a simple spin amd caution. Another reason to leave dirt racing to dirt tracks, they have no idea how to officiate dirt.

The fan stand views were just sad face. Maybe 20% of seats filled? This used to be hardest track to get tix and you had to know someone who knew someone. Nascar ruined it along with track owner ruining race surface some years ago. Dirt is just to make people forget the track was ruined before the dirt idea.

No fights after race = dull race. I rate it 3 cans out of a 6 pack, not bad not good just average.

They’ve been running big late model shows on dirt at Bristol since the 90’s.

Not exactly. They covered Bristol with dirt in 2000 or 2001 and ran into problems with rims cracking due to the g-forces created with those cars. They ran 410 (World of Outlaws Sprimts) on it and open late models but had those rim issues. Freddy Smith won the late model show and then they didn’t cover it in dirt until just a few years ago. So they went 20 or so years without running dirt LM shows there.

In the early 80’s you’d still have guys running the same late models on dirt and asphalt switching them over for shows but it became a pain in the butt so things split and you didn’t see that switchover happen anymore, basically it was when you had cars built specifically for dirt and specifically for asphalt. The tar cars stayed a bit more closer to stock appearing bodies and the dirt cars entered an era of absolute insanity with the open wedge era. If interested look into the Charlie Swartz mid engine car to see how wild it was getting. Sanctioning bodies reigned things in a bit so you didn’t have these crazy contraptions with ten foot high lexan sideboards and anything else they could dream of in the early to mid 80’s.

Up until about ‘82 or so a chassis was built as a race car chassis that could be run on either surface. For the past 40 years it’s become very specialized and the dirt cars being built now have zero intent of being run on pavement. Cover Bristol with dirt and let these guys run cars specifically built for dirt. Don’t run cars built for pavement with modifications to make them sort of work on dirt. They are trying to hammer a nail with a socket wrench. Give them hammers to hit that same nail and you’ll see some pretty cool stuff.

NASCAR officials issued an indefinite suspension of Cup Series driver Cody Ware on Monday.

The Iredell County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office listed Ware in its jail records Monday, indicating he was held on a felony charge of “assault by strangulation — inflict serious injury” and a misdemeanor charge of “assault on female.” The sheriff’s records also indicated Ware’s bond was set at $3,000 after his arrest.

Ware sat out this weekend’s event at Bristol Motor Speedway’s dirt track, with Rick Ware Racing — the Cup Series’ team owned by his father — releasing a statement Saturday morning that the 27-year-old driver had stepped away “to focus on a personal matter.” Craftsman Truck Series regular Matt Crafton substituted for Ware in the No. 51 Ford, finishing 34th after an engine failure.

Ware has raced in the Cup Series since 2017. His best finish in 97 career starts is sixth place last August at Daytona International Speedway.

Well we have seen the last of Ware in NASCAR, let alone a Cup car.

Persona non grata.

Wow, this won’t go over well with the metro:

Major Road Closures to Impact Chicago Traffic For Weeks Due to NASCAR Street Race

Officials on Monday detailed a traffic plan, featuring more than a month of rolling closures around the city in the lead-up and tear-down for the first-time event.

“Closures will include major roadways like DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Columbus Drive, Jackson Drive, Balbo Drive and Michigan Avenue and are expected to kick off on June 2 and continue through July 15, adding to a long list of traffic disruptions for drivers in the city already battling major construction projects on the Kennedy Expressway and elsewhere.”

“The biggest interruptions are slated to begin on June 25”

Kasey Kahne was named to the 75 Greatest drivers list. What ever happened to him? Wasn’t it concussions that made him retire

He won 18 races in 15 years and even won 6 races in one year and then he went away and no one ever seemed to talk about him.

His 2004 Mopar paint scheme was awesome.

I want to say Kahne has some problems from being exposed to carbon monoxide and having heat exhaustion over the course of his career and can’t handle being in a car for long duration races. He still does a good bit of dirt racing.
