We don't agree on much but we're in lockstep on this.

If NASCAR ever goes EV, which is probably a long way off, then NASCAR is truly dead.

F1 went EV (albeit in a separate series) and its ok.
I think as long as it's a separate series (like xfinity level) it should be fine. You'd need to have shorter races which could help viewership.

I agree. Honestly what people want to see is dominance. We haven't had a driver consistently dominate since Jimmy. We went from Jeff to Jimmy to parity with the occasional guy winning 5 or 6 one year.
People either love Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Gordon, or Tiger Woods or they hate them, but they tune in to watch it either way.

you say you wanted electric NASCAR? Because THATS WHAT THEY HEARD YOU SAY.
I posted that about 10 posts ago. If they ever go electric I’m 100% out. Where will their fans come from? At least now they have noise to keep the fans awake in boring races just imagine a quiet race lol. What a joke that would be. The electeic races overseas are like F1, the real race is qualifying. At least in nascar you can win from the back and back is like 36th too. You would have to create a whole new fanbase.
In successful families its said every new generation does worse than the prior one. We’re on our 3rd generation of Bill France and its showing.

Other than Tiger its not the dominance that draws so much - its that the dominamce creates underdog stories of who can knock them off.

Just third? I was thinking 4th.

Yeah. I tried watching a couple races and found it funny seeing majority of the field almost running out of battery within the last 2-3 laps of the race.

NASCAR fined Denny Hamlin $50,000 and docked him 25 driver points on Wednesday for his intentional contact with Ross Chastain late in Sunday’s Cup Series race at Phoenix.

– In other penalties announced Wednesday, NASCAR hit each of Hendrick Motorsports’ four Cup Series teams and the No. 31 team of Kaulig Racing with L2-level infractions for unapproved modifications to parts. The Nos. 5, 9, 24, 31 and 48 teams all lost 100 team and driver points (with the exception of the No. 9, which did not lose driver points) and 10 playoff points. The crew chiefs for each team were suspended for four races and fined $100,000.
– The No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford driven by Aric Almirola also got hit with a safety violation for the loss or separation of an improperly installed tire/wheel from the vehicle (Sections 8.8.10.4 A&C). Crew members Ryan Mulder and Sean Cotten were suspended for two races.

If I did math right -- Alex Bowman drops from first to 23rd in the standings; William Byron from fourth to 29th; Kyle Larson from fifth to 32nd; Haley now 49th in points (-40). ... Chase Elliott actually moves up from 29th to 26th.
It is the biggest combined fine to one organization in NASCAR history. NASCAR has issued bigger fines for individual violations but a $400,000 combined fine to one organization is the largest.

Ironic.
But to me the L2 is too harsh because they never raced those cars in a race. It was found in practice and should be an L1 not L2. Last year Kes raced his car and got L2. JMO

Wow, those are major penalties for Hendrick and the 31. Having to have sub crew chiefs for all four teams (one of which already has a sub driver) has to be a nightmare for Hendrick Motorsports.

They could appeal all at once to have time to plan. Could appeal some not all and allow 9 CC to take the hit now. Will be interesting since the nascsr part never fit right.
I don’t like Hamlin but don’t like his fines. Nascar likes rivalries yet stops it with points/fines for an after rsce podcast. The podcast helps draw/keep fans. And both drivers made peace after race.

Hendrick statement:
We are disappointed with today’s decision by NASCAR to issue penalties and have elected to appeal based on a variety of facts that include:
• Louvers provided to teams through NASCAR’s mandated single-source supplier do not match the design submitted by the manufacturer and approved by NASCAR
• Documented inconsistent and unclear communication by the sanctioning body specifically related to louvers
• Recent comparable penalties issued by NASCAR have been related to issues discovered during a post-race inspection
For the March 19 NASCAR Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway, our organization has made the strategic decision not to request deferral of personnel suspensions. Team rosters for this weekend will be updated as soon as substitute crew chiefs are determined.
Also from Hendrick: NASCAR identified louvers on our race cars during a voluntary inspection 35 minutes after the opening of the garage and prior to on-track activity. NASCAR took possession of the parts approximately four hours later with no prior communication.

I don’t necessarily have a problem with the penalty. When something happens between two drivers on the track NASCAR knows there will be some form of payback. NASCAR won’t come out and say it but I think they are fine with it up to a certain point.
Denny was stupid to come out and say that Ross was coming with him and that he just let go of the wheel. The only thing he had to do is say that he got loose or lost control and he wouldn’t have got these penalties. He was stupid to admit to it.

Meh. The only reason it drew fans was people wondering if was intentional or people listened to it after the clip came out. People will probably listen to the next one to hear what he has to say about the penalties and bitch about NASCAR. The hype will die down mostly go back to Hamlin/2311 fans.

It was probably more of Ross trying to make peace and move forward. This past Sunday it was obvious that Ross was in Denny’s head. Denny had over a dozen races last year to make his point and didn’t. Why? Why carry it over to this season?
Posted on 3/15/23 at 1:16 pm to CobraCommander83
Up to this point Denny has been all talk about payback. He did try to slow him down at Gateway last year I believe. Other than that it’s been a lot of “I’m gonna get ya” type talk.
Truex is the same way…”he won that battle but won’t win the war”. Nothing ever happened there either. We need more drivers like Ross and Matt Kenseth that just do what they want on the racetrack. Other drivers will react when they’ve had enough. That’s exactly what we want and need.
