I'm sure it really is a pain in the arse there locally, but it is going to be one hell of a spectacle when I get around to watching the recording later Sunday morning after cell phone notifications spoil the winner.

Seeing videos all over Instagram from last nights opening ceremonies... A spectacle indeed.

thats not alot of people for a highly “touted”
opening ceremony
Race day attendance wil equate to a lower end Nascar or Indycar race
F1 is going to lose their arse on this

teams really be putting in alot of effort on liveries that will be seen by an in person audience equivalent to a Louisiana tech game

I love that the Dutch don't hide what they feel. I used to work with a bunch of them in New Orleans, and they don't give a frick if what they say may hurt your feelings.

New event. Everyone wants to be “first”. TikTok and selfy era, gotta get em and post online to impress online friends most have never met.
Or they could be F1 fans and wanted the full experience and see a show. is this how you feel about every social event?

Vegas is such a trashy, weird place.
I hope the race is at least interesting.

Safety car lap drive video
Here's a video of the track... I can't believe that pit exit.
***FIXED THE LINK***

Thoughts on last night:
Rain probably kept a lot of people from watching in the stands.
Nearly everyone we talked to it was there first or second gp.
Definitely felt like a dog and pony show, but isn’t that what Vegas is. There is an attempt to show value for price of tickets.
Locals are pissed about traffic but most we talked to see it as just another event like the nfl draft or superbowl.
Everyone said this city is dirty. They must’ve cleaned it up because it’s a hell of a lot nicer than Atlanta and New Orleans. And I don’t feel like I’m about to get shanked like those cities.

Kym Ilman's latest update from Vegas at the track. Pretty interesting:
His comment a few min in about it being over the top, the American way, and what the Americans want it out of touch... This isn't for the American Audience as demonstrated by the midnight start. Its for the Europeans.

And funny about the RaceWknd magazine focused on Vegas and Hamilton being the main centerpiece when just yesterday he did and interview and basically blasted F1 on interrupting peoples lives in the city for the event, yet he was one of the ones pushing to race in vegas.... he was getting blown up on social media about it.
