I think so, especially in the turns. Fightin and Touched are true experts, so I will defer to them. Re: Dutch fans, they know how to party.

Fun fact: they wear orange even though it is not a color on their national flag because the royal family in The Netherlands is the House of Orange.

here is some info i found on Zandvoort

LINK

quote:

The twisty nature of the track makes overtaking difficult. Due to the fast corner combinations and limited track width, drivers have to pull out all the stops for a successful overtake. But what are the best overtaking points at circuit Zandvoort?

Tarzanbocht
This corner is located at the end of the straight where the driver can use DRS. Before the 180-degree Tarzan corner, the drivers hit the brakes hard, and it becomes clear who can brake the best!
Hugenholtbocht
This is a fast banked corner at the end of the second straight. The drivers need to make use of all their driving skills to avoid losing positions in this left-hand corner.
Arie Luyendykbocht
In 2022, the DRS zone in the Arie Luyendyk corner was modified so that drivers can open their wings immediately after turn 13 and have more overtaking opportunities on the straight and in the Tarzan corner.

As TT33 mentions, it used to be a regular track, but it's seemingly unsuited for modern F1 cars. It's an old-school narrow track; it has a lot more character than a modern wide Tilke track, but it's hard to pass.

When they were preparing the track for F1's return, they re-profiled the last corner to give it a steep 18° banking so it would be easier for cars to follow each other and increase the chance to pass at the end of the start-finish straight.

However for me the most interesting turn is Turn 3. They gave it 4.5° banking on the inside, and 19° banking on the outside! The drivers favor the outside of the corner, but this has become a place where cars can attack. There are two lanes here. A car with fresh tires can attack on the inside of the corner. Less banking but less distance to travel.

Even Turn 1 seems to have two lanes because of mild banking. So these features have made the racing better than expected IMO.

I can tell you from sim racing, its tight as frick. The banked corners have helped to some degree, but many places you can park it in the middle and make it very difficult.

Coming out of T13 you are flat out and with a long straight its the best place to overtake but the straight is pretty short. you are flat out in T4-6 and T3 is now banked so you can really carry some speed, but its very narrow. Using DRS out of T10 is best served to close the gap coming out of the chicane but following closely at those low speeds make it hard to really get on the accelerator.

Agreed. In practice we haven't seen two cars battling through here much though.

I do believe it will prove itself eventually.

Here, we initially saw drivers taking dramatically different lines while figuring out the optimal way round. This is because Hugenholtz is no ordinary banked turn - it uses the Fibonacci Sequence to progressively increase the angle of the tarmac. On the inside of the turn, it’s just 4.5 degrees, but on the outside, it’s 19. So, the corner is more of a bowl than a bank.

I think they've done about as good as they can do with the tire degradation and general unreliability of the car.

Danny Ric is being checked out at the hospital. He jacked up his hand in his crash. Liam Lawson is on-site with Red Bull this weekend and de Vries could be called back if RIC can't go.

Just watched the clip of the accident. That's some bad luck.

de Vries is a known quantity, but I don't see any reason to put him in the car (hasn't scored any points; not likely to score here) if this an opportunity to evaluate Lawson. Have no idea if he's familiar with the AT's steering wheel. But I'd love to see Lawson make his debut.

Hearing if Ricciardo is out then it’s going to be Lawson rather than de Vries at AlphaTauri. Some baptism of fire that would be #F1 #DutchGP

Just saw the Ric crash. That's some bad luck right there. He was already committed to the top line and had nowhere to go but the wall.
