For the purists alarmed at the new American interest in F1 and the changes that has occasioned, do not fret. I suspect it's just a fad for many anyways.

I feel like the Williams car is faster than where Albon and Sargeant finish.

True.

I am pleasantly surprised by the low turnout on Day 1 in Miami.

If all the tickets and experiences are sold the promoter will be happy.

The crowd that Miami promoters are trying to draw aren't in the same stands as you and I. I will have them on my radar next year though depending what prices I see people get last minute.

All that shite is 100% catered to American casuals, and it’s killing the soul of the sport.

Maybe I'm too old school but I feel like you just described pretty much every American sport.

F1 getting the Americanization treatment. When the playoffs get added, I'm out.

F1 has been glitz and glam for a long, long time. And they've done shitty races in Vegas before - long before my time. Yeah, there's been some Americanization recently, but I don't think we're too far astray yet.

Still have the stupid fake boats. Not sure why I thought maybe those would be gone but that’s so fricking dumb.

It feels like the shine has worn off quicker than I expected for Miami. Someone on Reddit said they were there last year and this year, and this year seems to have significantly less people.

Ticket sales must've sucked too, a friend bought tickets last year, couldn't make it, and flipped the pair for $6000. Those same tickets this year are currently listed ~$350/each on the secondary market. So anyone who bought tickets to flipped likely lost their arse big time.

It's exactly what I expected. The new DTS fans who showed up last year to Miami for the spectacle, are going to Vegas this year for the spectacle. Even at Vegas the prices are going to come down drastically in the next year or two.

I think I speculated earlier in this thread that Vegas might kill the Miami race. I don't believe that the US can sustain three races.

Albon is no Lando, but I think he is an asset to the team as the lead driver. I think they are happy with him. Don't be fooled by the high trap speeds, the Williams may be a dog in slow corners or something, so maybe they run low downforce to try to salvage lap time that way.

I'm more curious about AlphaTauri. Yuki has made great strides in consistency and staying out of trouble, but I think he's a bigger question mark than Albon in regards to getting the most speed out of the car. All the Red Bull big-mouths do seem to be positive on him, and we know they don't bother to mince their words.

Interest is definitely going to fade if the sport isn’t competitive at the top, which it typically isn’t. 2021 was definitely an outlier.

It can easily sustain three races.

Not for thousands of dollars for a seat however.
