That’s a very reasonable take
History is not kind to record setting teams come playoff time

I’ll hold predictions until the matchups are set but I could maybe see them losing to the Rangers or any West team

If Toronto didn’t have their history they could win in the second round and TB needs to turn it on a bit more although their recent runs speak volumes.

I will say they're very tough to score on no matter who the goalie is. They have 2 very good goalies and if one of them gets the hot hand they could carry them, and if one of them gets in a bind I know they won't feel bad switching them out. Sway had a very god game tonight, the Leafs had multiple VERY good chances in the last 2 minutes of regulation or so and Sway knocked them all away. Some of them I don't know how he did it, one of them in particular when the Leafs came from behind the net I thought for sure was going to score but he somehow got to his spot on time. And he's supposed to be the backup.

Pasta, if it wasn't for McDavid, is one of the best stories in the NHL this year. Had the game winner in OT tonight, glad the Bruins paid the man. He's gonna have to deliver in the playoffs, and he has done so in the past especially in the Bruins last run to the finals when they lost to the Blues he had a productive postseason.

Starting Saturday, we'll have at least one game on ABC, ESPN, or TNT for the next 6 days.

Slow your roll.

History hasn't been kind in the NHL to President Cup Trophy winners.

Happy my Kraken made the playoffs.

I don’t think they are built for any sort of run, though. No one destroys the mediocre like the Kraken, but it gets a little rougher for them when the difficulty level rises.

Getting Burakovsky back from injury makes them better, though… who knows?

Eh, recent history hasn't since the last one to win the cup was the Blackhawks in 2013, funnily enough over the Bruins. This is by far the longest drought for the PT winner to not win the cup since it was introduced, so yeah recent history hasn't been kind. But overall since the President's Trophy was introduced, statistically the PT winner has won the cup more than any other seed. They've won 8 out of 36 possible. That 22% seems low but you're comparing them to the field and not each seed individually where they have a higher rate than any others. 3 others have at least made the final so looking at slightly under 1/3 of PT winners at least win their conference. So maybe you could make the argument that it's overdue for a PT winner to come away with it again.

When it comes to 60+ game winners the Bruins are only the 4th to do it. The Habs won the cup in 77, the Wings in 96 lost in the WCF, and of course the Lightning got swept in the 1st round so historically the performance of 60+ win teams are wildly inconsistent with a low sample size so there can't really be any meaningful analysis in that regard.

Pens won. 5-1 over DET. They sit at 90 points. Need FLA or the Isles to lose one.

VGK got one point but the Oilers can’t be stopped right now. VGK finish with a home and home against the Kraken while the Oilers play at Colorado and finish at home against the Sharks.

McDavid is the first player in 27 years to hit 150 points in a season. Crosby is the 15th player to reach 1500 points in a career.

That was one of the ugliest wins you’ll see all year. Hockey gods were not on LAs side last night.

I don’t think Avs match up well with the Kings and they cannot stop Kempe

There is a scenario where Avs win the central and play the Kings (Seattle two points back of them with game in hand)

Flames eliminated from playoff contention, with an OTL

17 OTLs leads the league. fitting end.

Caps beat the Isles last night. Did the Pens a favor. We have CHI tonight and Columbus on Thursday, need to win both.

San Jose Sharks defenseman Erik Karlsson became the first NHL defenseman to reach 100 points in a season since Brian Leetch in 1991-92 on Monday night.

Karlsson entered the Sharks' 6-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets with 98 points across his first 79 games. He tallied the Sharks' two goals for San Jose, the first 20 seconds into the game and the second 3:42 into the third period, to hit the milestone.

Sittin in the nosebleeds for tonight’s Avs/Oilers game. Free tix, can’t complain. Should be a great game as they always are against McDavid and Co.
