I gained some respect back for Denny tonight. He took that in stride.

He gets shite on and justifiably so in most cases, but Denny handled that like a pro tonight.

Footage of Chastain’s move from the grandstands in turn 3/4. Really gives you an idea of how fast he was going.

The fact that he eased it up against the wall, slight turn to the wall and hammered down, shows me he had thought about it before. He simply used the wall to turn his car and it worked. He didn't need to worry about spinning out if he was already riding the wall.

It looks like it’s in 2x speed on the video but it’s his actual speed. Just crazy.

Lost in all this is that Bell won the race to make the final 4

So many drivers and NASCAR are upset at Chastain’s move, but the blame should be on NASCAR alone and their “do or die” playoff format. I mean what do you expect in this situation? It would have never happened if they used the old old points system.

Good point. Why can't we do away with this stupid Brian France brainchild now that he's long gone?

Watched the interview with Joey and it's not as bad as the quote makes it seem. He makes some good points.

Exactly. He even said it was a cool move.
It was Larson who called embarrassing.

That was a really weird reaction from Larson. He seemed really defensive about his take too.

Larson is mad cause he’s at home and Ross is In the final four. LOL a superiority attitude. F You Larson. Chastain pulled off a great move.

He oughta just tell Larson he was running the cushion.

I’m waiting to see what happens with Brandon Jones and Gibbs next week. Jones oughta take him out. I’d love to see him do that and knock both of their cars out…get out and say thanks Grandpa.

So like 65-70 mph.

Thinking about this over night, Martinsville might be the only place where this would work to any degree because they are going so slow in the corners there (30-35 mph). So if Ross was doing 2x that, it would be the 65-70 mph that I posted above.

If I were really smart, I could figure out the distance of the external radius of the turn and could calculate the speed of the car based on the time he takes to travel thru the corners. (S = D/T)

Not taking away for the genius of the move or anything like that, just thinking of the physics of it

Edit: Ross traveled the 750 feet of the outside of the turns 3-4 wall at Martinsville (as measured in google earth) in 5.5 seconds (measured off multiple replays of the event). That puts his speed at a tick over 90 mph. By comparison, Denny traveled 600 feet in about 6.5 seconds for a speed of about 60 mph.

Also, what is more embarrassing? That moves that the 1 Car did yesterday or saying what Larson said a couple years ago to get him suspended and then basically getting pushed around by bubble Wallace and not retaliating? I can think of a lot of things more embarrassing for the sport than what Ross did yesterday.

Pretty cool video. Make sure you watch til the end. They have footage from in the booth with Jr. and Jeff Burton. Burton thoroughly got his mind blow.

Punk Gibbs took out both of the other team cars. He took out the 18 first by dive bombing the 19 in a corner pushing 19 up into 18.

Then a few laps later he took out the 19 on the last lap by not slowing down and even crumpled his hood he hit so hard. Put 19 into the wall. 19 was in the lead and was going to win his way in to final 4.

The 19 needed to win to get into last 4 so that means Jones (Gibbs car) didn’t make final 4 next week.

Fans were very vocal about it as Punk Gibbs got out of car on frontstretch interview on track and Punk Gibbs blamed Jesus.

Oh yeah. Gibbs wrecked his teammate Jones for the win. That cost Jones a berth in the championship 4.

Moments like that is what make Driver and Nascar fans.

Reminds me of another moment for NASCAR when Pearson and Petty crashed before the finish line at Daytona. Pearson limps across for the win and infield fans push Petty to the line to finish the race.
