Reading the race scrutineering document, they didn't even check Max or Checo. They only took a fuel sample from Zhou's car.

According to this, all "finishing" cars are weighed and have a fuel sample checked. Maybe that is sloppy wording and they mean all classified cars, but in any case it doesn't make sense that only one car had a fuel sample taken.

Finishing cars are always weighed and measured and have fuel samples checked after races, before the results are made official.

However from the Bahrain GP onwards the FIA will randomly select one car for much more detailed examination, and potentially stripping of components.

The FIA has informed the team of the process, via a technical directive and a more general explanation from the stewards, so that they are aware that any car could be selected.

BTW we may NOT have a GP next week. There was a missile attack from Yemen aimed at the Jeddah area yesterday.

I found it quite enlightening that the Dakar Rally was removed from Africa to South America due to security concerns. And has now been moved to run in Saudi Arabia, much safer than Africa.

I just looked on a map, and that missile attack was only 6 miles from Corniche Circuit.

Max sounded like a bitch.

I don't like Ham either.

eta-I had Mags in car with comms going on the laptop for the entire race and was amazed at how little he says.

I had the same understanding but the scrutineering document is very specific about things being checked on all cars and then only a fuel sample on one of them. You would think they would say a fuel sample was taken from all cars but an "enhanced fuel inspection" was performed on one of them.

For example...

quote:

The logged pressure within the engine cooling system during the race was checked on all cars.
Fuel flow meter calibration checksums were checked on all cars.
The instantaneous fuel mass flow of all cars was checked.
The fuel temperature of all cars was checked.
A fuel sample was taken from car number 24.

Maybe ran enough fuel, but the placement of the pump couldn't get it all.

I doubt this is it. Didn’t RB run a few full race sims in testing?

I've been kind of wondering about Mick's pace being well off KMag during the race and with all the focus on the 5th place little has been said about Schu. Came across an article where he said the car was "off" after the hit, which is understandable with these cars. Hell, RB claims they bent a tie rod dropping the car off the jack on a pitstop.

The lap times Obtuse posted earlier shows him being way off, by 2-3 seconds/lap, until the first stop which points to the tires being off after the 360 as well.

So without Ocon's hit it's quite possible both Haas cars would have been in the points.

You would think they at least did a few light runs if not. Maybe they burned more fuel than they predicted or they never ran that light. Both were just 1-2 laps short.

I think the hit and spin messed up Mick’s car.

This season should tell us alot about his talent level I think.

I agree. KMag is a known quantity so it'll be easier to see how Mick is progressing. Maz was useless concerning development or driver comparison.

Try WTF1. They also post almost everything on YT so you can get a feel for them.

The main host (Matt) is also the presenter for F1's E-sports so he's not just some guy with a blog.

Late Braking probably falls under this. They pride themselves on having a post-race Sunday podcast. Think their motto is, Don't have to be right, just have to be first.

Poke fun at theie predictions, but do a good job of recapping all the interviews and storylines.

Random question, has the British Grand Prix ever been held early in the year before end of May or later in the year like September onward?

I made the joke after Friday’s practices about how many cars would fail with parts flying off and other issues…. With this being the first time they were run hard out in race conditions, it was likely to happen, just in no way thought it would be Redbull, much less, both of them

Yeah I tried googling specific race dates but it wasn’t as easy to find a large list as expected.

I saw some dates in August but wasn’t sure if that was normal window or July is more the norm.

I think summer is a much better fit for Silverstone. It’s not the warmest or driest country.
