"How to build a car" Should be on every fan's list, I thought it was going to be way too technical and boring, but Newey genuinely seems like a chill guy who just happens to be a genius when it comes to aerodynamics. The stories are awesome, and the sketches are cool to see as well. 10/10 book if you're curious about the cars

My son is in advanced math, calculus and physics. His plan is to get a mechanical engineering degree focused on performance automotive and alternatively also in wingframe engineering for the aerodynamics. He's taking auto tech classes, too, to get into the whole car so that he gains good internal visualization. He's joined Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and has driven in multiple autocross events. He has a '20 Mustang with the High Performance Package and the Handling Package, which gives him the performance MagnaRide suspension, front and rear track quality sway bars and six piston Brembo brakes. He's added an upgraded fuel pump, an oil catch can, high flow downpipe, high-flow cold air intake and a performance intercooler and has it tuned for E85 fuel.
Would this book be good for him at this stage of his education or better later down the road after he has good practical experience with the mechanical side of auto mechanics?

I'd be fine with another US race.
As long as it's on a real track. Which will never happen.

It wouldn't hurt. It's not so much about the actual mechanics, though there are some in the book, but more about the journey Newey took to get where he is today. It may be beneficial to your son as more job advice and starting at the bottom and working your way up. Newey put in a lot of work to get where he is today.

Watkins Glen would be amazing!

Got it for my birthday. Cracked it open last night. It’s awesome

The problem is there aren't many good tracks in the US for modern F1 cars. A lot of our tracks work well for Indy, DPI, and LMP, but it'd be a parade on most of our tracks with F1 cars.
Like I love Road America and Road Atlanta, buy they need some serious changes for F1. The topography on Road Atlanta would be especially amazing to watch an F1 car go through, but giving it one passing opportunity is generous, not even bringing up grade 1 upgrades.
That said, some of European circuits and tilkedromes suck too.

I wonder what sorts of things the F1 drivers get into when in America that flies under the radar. I bet a few of them go shooting and other stuff. Maybe they don’t have time

Audi sponsor or actually building engines?
Posted on 10/26/22 at 8:45 am to bikerack
yep, this is gonna be interesting. AR sponsorship ends next year, rumor is they will race as just Sauber in 24 and 25 before becoming Audi.
Audi seems to really want a german driver, but if mick is off the grid for 3 years is that really something worth pursuing?

they are going to make the engines. sauber is headquartered in switzerland and the engines will be made at audi's factory in germany. so some logistical challenges are there.
if porsche somehow re enters the fold, i am wondering if they become a customer team.

I just received my email for the Vegas presale tickets next week on Ticketmaster.

I wonder how hard of a push this will make to get an F1 race back in germany?

Curious how that is going to work... Where will they put grandstands? How will they stop people from being track side with soooo many entry ways to the course.

RBR cost cap penalty coming out tomorrow. fine and reduced wind tunnel time is what it sounds like.
