This is getting better and better

He must be in line for Mclaren. No way he turns down an open F1 seat.

No way a rookie turns down the 4th best team on the grid unless he already has a signed contract with another competitive team (McLaren). Someone speculated that Piastri might have signed with Williams, but if that were the case he would have kept his mouth shut and worked behind the scenes to get out of that deal and back to Alpine. He has to feel safe that he has a McLaren seat to publicly refute Alpine.

McLaren is really stirring things up on both sides of the pond.

That or having already signed on the dotted line with Williams before all of this went down are the only two realistic options I've seen.

One is significantly more unfortunate than the other.

Neither are as unfortunate as driving for a French team.

Twitter is saying his option with alpine expired at the end of July and he had McLaren lined up. FA screwed Alpine on the timing.

What is FA and how did they screw Alpine exactly?

Everyone shows MAG coming back but he was already gone and came back as a filler for the season. Is he signed more than a year? I’m sure he would take more years frim Haas but maybe Ferrari has different ideas?

And its possible both get replaced? I know one thing their team has cost them both so many points (which means $$$ at end of year) and all race day decision makers should be fired except Principle.

To be fair, Webber is orchestrating a lot of this, so he might have signed a backup deal with Alpha Tauri for all we know.

Nah, even if he signed with Williams I'd imagine step 1 would still be a public denial of the Apline announcement.

So is the assumption that he had a verbal with McLaren to take Danny Rics seat and Alpine assumed he was coming to them?
