+1000. They are entitled to their views as much as anyone else is. Having different viewpoints doesn't make them bad people.

I feel that Hamilton is handling himself very well this year in regards to the car, the team and the fans. He seems to be genuine in his approach to how this season has progressed.

I've been a Red Bull fan since Seb and i love Max. With that said if you are a new fan of F1, you missed out on Max's shithead years when he was a teenager driving in F1. He's matured a lot in the last several years.

I think the hate of Max goes down to the fact it seemed like he was pushing out Danny Ric who is easy to like. And when Ric left for Alpine it made Max look like the bad guy

In my very limited(2 months) exposure to F1, he legit seems like the absolute nicest famous dude(So does Ricciardo). But again, I don't know a single about the past or his history, just what I've seen from him the past couple of months.

Hamilton is black, well spoken, and speaks out on climate/social justice issues. For those reasons, he won’t every be very popular on this website, regardless of how fair/well-mannered he is. It’s sad but true. Also, motorsport is historically a very white/blue collar sport, and there’s a lot of people who’d like to keep it that way.

I’ll be honest. I’ve been a Max hater for a while, and while I still don’t enjoy seeing him win, I’m coming around to at least appreciate him. I also find I don’t hate his personality the way I used to. Funny enough, I’d rather see Max win than Checo, and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because Max’s talent is undeniable, and Checo, MEH.

It's getting harder for me to like him, but I still feel some sort of attachment to him. I really liked him at Williams because I'm a Williams fan and saw that he could drag them from the back to a little further up. Kind of that glimmer of hope that Williams needed.

IMO he is the most unlikeable driver on the grid. Oozes that 1980s rich kid, dad owns the ski resort, type of entitlement. It would be one thing if he had won a few things but he hasn't.

He has talent, no doubt, and he has the power of Merc behind him but he's just so naturally unlikeable.

Watching Lewis win another championship got boring. My issue with him is the public persona he created — I don’t think he actually cares about the social issues he talks about. If you watch old interviews of Lewis, he’s a different person, a more charismatic one.

People change as they get older.

But yes, I can certainly see how he'd be more boring now.

Lewis has a marketing and PR ecosystem around him. Probably stepped it up as he got older and wanted to build a brand around his image ala LeBron or Jordan. I assume 99% of the shite he says or puts out is just corporate PR spin. Same with his post and pre race interviews. It’s just vanilla “thanks to the fans. Glad everyone is safe. Wow we have some great drivers. Our team is great. Etc”

I don’t blame him. I’d do it too.

Yeah Lewis was doing what all of us would do in his position. Prepare himself for life after driving, it’s smart and honestly some professionals never get that and just think they can do it forever.

Props to Lewis for putting people around him to help develop his launching pad. You know Sky will throw money at him to do spots with F1 when he retires.

Daniel Ricciardo accidentally called McLaren team-mate Lando Norris a “shithead or an a-hole” four times after making a major mistake after the French Grand Prix.

While talking about Norris' race, Ricciardo repeatedly called the British star a “stronzo”. He said: “Lando, Il stronzo”.

Translated to English, the word simply translates to “shithead” or a-hole”. Moments later the Italian TV reporter told Ricciardo his mistake which shocked the 33-year-old.

Looking shocked, Ricciardo said: “Is it not a good word? The reporter replied: "No."

Ricciardo added back: "Okay. Scusa." The reporter continued: “It is a bad word, more bad than good.”

Has it crossed your mind that some people might feel the same way about Lewis and aren’t automatically racists for disliking him?

I find him annoying. I also find Vettel annoying. I’m confident in saying it’s not because of their skin color.

It is kind of funny since he is the only one who doesn't have a full time social media person to run his accounts.

Lando said he tried, but the fans are brutal on social media with what they will PM and send.

Yea I think it was early DTS that would cause some hate. Ric was the fun, goofy driver that was getting pushed out. That never bothered me but Racey Spice seeming obsession and bias for him was pretty annoying. I'm not a RBR fan solely because of Horner. I actually like Max and he is an incredible driver.

I think the difference is that Lewis has behaved professionally for many years now, whereas Max is just beginning to represent himself as something other than the abrasive, reckless a-hole he was prior to his WDC.

But yeah, of course. It’s the age-old idiom that says not everyone who hates Lewis is a racist, but you’ll be hard-pressed to find a racist who doesn’t hate him. That’s all.
