Man the FIA literally confuses the shite out of me every weekend. Way to keep me on my toes guys when attempting to learn the rules. Because you bastards keep changing them.

They didn't finish the lap. As far as I remember, on a red flag, the order of a restart is the order of the end of the previous lap.

Sky is showing they're on lap 2 for some reason.

Can y’all imagine if it wasn’t red flagged and the protestors got slammed?

They finished the lap under red, does that not count?

I'm not sure when it comes to F1. I don't think the red officially starts until they're parked in NASCAR. But they would be parked before the line there.

Obviously it’s not cut and dry here either since the announcers are equally confused by the decision.

I’m ok with the reset since it was still the first turn.

Really not that far from making it over the catch fence

If you want to see a flip over the fence (not F1):

So with the second restart does Sainz still suck?

Nothing, it seems, is cut and dry in F1.

Looks like the roll hoop is where Sauber saved the weight to be the only car to meet the minimum.

Is it going to be a standing start from the grid?

"It seems unfair."

The rule is clear. If you can't drive back to the pits you are out. PleaseClap himself said he couldn't restart it.

Make Russell start last in the race…it’s a better race with the kid in it. Especially in front of his home crowd.

Okay guys, let’s not pretend like George wasn’t in the position because of his driving or anything.

He ran into Gasleys line, not like Gasley ran into him.

Edit: dang Brit announcers trying to say poor George Good Samaritan etc

Traditionally, the only official timing position is the start-finish line, but it sounds like F1 has other timing positions they could use to determine position, but not all cars passed it before the red flag. I wonder if this is common to other FIA series, or unique to F1.
