Somewhat in order. McLaren and Merc are kind of my wildcards. We'll see. I'd prefer McLaren be higher, but their testing didn't show a whole lot, so TBD.
Group A)
-RB
-Ferrari
-Merc (I don't care what their testing showed. You can't count them out.)
Group B)
-McLaren
-AlphaTauri
-Alpine
-Aston Martin
-Haas (I'd like to see them higher)
Group C)
-Williams
-Alfa Romeo (Though Bottas might get them a few points to go over Williams)
ETA: This will all probably change after this weekend.

Do you not remember Sir Lewis sitting on the grid by himself while everyone else restarted from the pit with wets on?
That was on Hamilton, not the team.

And Russell got a puncture in that race. So unless a Merc engineer threw a nail on the track? Russell would have won.
Did he really have a puncture? LINK

Could also look at Germany 2019, 2015 Monaco, 2021 Monaco, 2019 Singapore

I dont know the rules exactly, but apparently the team cant tell the drivers to pit on the formation lap. Its the drivers call.

Giving direction isn't allowed on the formation. Answering vital questions is. Using code is hard to determine.
Merc rolled the dice. RBR probably were going opposite of whatever Merc did anyway.

It depends on the driver and I honestly am not sure how much Bonnington relies on Hamilton because their messages are so "coded" and Lewis bitches about the situational choices so often.
There are examples of drivers where engineers almost always deferred to them because they were human computers, Alonso is the only current one on the grid. Schumacher (the greater), Prost, and Lauda are historical examples. Then there are guys that could drive the wheels off a car and would unless they were beaten into submission, Hunt, Senna, and Villeneuve (the greater, Gilles if there is any confusion) are good examples of that. Kimi to a degree fits the second mold but he just didn't give two fricks.
I do think it is harder today for drivers to handle strategy decisions than it was in the past. Primarily because the pitwall has so much more exacting data than they did in the past. It is just basically impossible for drivers to be given all the mini-sector data and process it for multiple cars. Plus add to that current drivers don't get near the seat time that older drivers did. For example, I wouldn't doubt MSC had 4 times the number of laps in an F1 car than HAM does at HAM's current point in his career. Michael competed in the no-limit testing days and spent many years at Ferrari who had Fiarono available any time they wanted it and simulators don't count at the multi-WDC level.

Anyone buying COTA tickets today? It was supposed to start tomorrow but I got an email today saying I could buy now. I jumped in the que but don't think I'm actually going.

I’d love to see Mercedes in the mid pack, but will believe it when I see it.

Yea did the same with myself and a friend, I jumped on and it showed me to be about 150th in the que, then reset and pushed me to 12000+. Now its down to 8085.His showed him about 2000th, then jumped to 15000 in front.

Is HAM not part of team Merc? HAM goofed or the engineers did? ???? Merc goofed.
The point is they can and have made mistakes.
And watching DTS, they sure make it look like Horner lives in Toto’s head rent free. Wonder if that’s really true.

Netflix heavily edits, but they both understand that:
1. They are rivals who are trying to out-do one another
2. They are in a sport where they need money and that the way to money is through drama, which people find entertaining

Just finished DTS4 and those last two episodes were amazing, just like those last two races. Wow. So hyped for this weekend!

Really? It’s always seemed like Toto just laughs off Horner. Obviously he has to take him serious after last season and it looks like he definitely realized that fairly early last season, but it’s always seemed like Toto saw Horner like a funny annoyance than anything.

No. It wouldn't look good for Hamilton for a backmarker driver to take his car and win with almost no practice.
