The problem is not the speed of the C3, which is the middle of the range, it's the fact that some teams think it might last 60 laps. The problem with the Pirelli range is that the C2 and C3 tires (the harder compounds) are too good compared to the C4 and C5.

Russell is in a nice gap to nurse his tires and make the 1-stop work. Hamilton fighting Sainz and Alonso is going to really hurt him come late in the race.

I'm starting to realize the early VSC pit stops weren't some kind of genius move, the teams were just reacting to the situation with a lower-risk strategy gamble (because you don't lose as much position pitting during a VSC).
