Spieth is 147th in strokes gained putting right now.
He had a least three lip outs yesterday, I saw three in the little I watched.
He also went in a divot on a perfect drive and got a terrible bounce on 18.

Cameron Tringale (who started the day at -2) just went quintuple, quadruple on 16 & 17.
I don’t know much about him, but he always seems to make an appearance on the leaderboard in every tournament I’ve watched this year. However, he’s had trouble breaking into the top 50 in FedEx cup standings.
He must be a streaky player that can compete with the best when he’s hot, but can fall off a cliff when things go bad.

I love how much SVP loves Harry Higgs.

He’s finished inside the top 10 of SG: Putting 3 out of the last 6 years. That is very good.
He's also finished in the 100s and the 40s in that time frame. Go look at his putting by distance, it's available on PGA tours website. In 2015 he was ninth in SG putting, but made almost 26% of his putts from 20-25 feet. Average make rate on tour from that distance is 10%.
He was 114th in 4-8 feet that season and 136th from 10 feet.
He was obviously better from closer range in 2019 when he was second, but the trend of getting buckets from 20 feet and being average or worse from inside 10 feet continued.

Do you think being in the 40s means you’re a bad putter?
And yes, I know he’s struggled from short distances. I’m talking about his putting in general.
By no means am I saying he is only good at putting. He was the best iron player in the world for a couple years. He’s just also normally very good at putting. But when it is off, it looks ugly.

If he didn't make 300% more than Tour average from 25 feet he'd be closer to 100 than 50 is my point.
He's put up multiple years of making those long putts though so it's hard to say it was luck.
Im just refuting the overall perception that he makes everything. From 25 feet that's right, from 10 feet he's historically been quite bad. But when you hit your irons like he does you can make 10% less putts from 10 feet and still be really good.

Matsuyama and Bryson both saving par here is otherworldly

Oh, ok. I agree with you there. I get what you’re saying now. There’s definitely the perception that he is only good because of his putting. That’s clearly wrong.

SVP is so damn good at his job.

Matsuyama going to win
20 years later there won’t be a single thread on the MSB about golf because it will look like the woman’s tour
I’ll be rich. Reauxl will be perplexed at Bamas 45 year ncaa sanctions
Bryson will be dead from a massive heart attack
