Finally, an MLB Productions documentary on the jackrabbits (as Vin Scully used to call them) of the 1980's.

Make no mistake, their venom is intended for Luhnow, but I’ll be surprised if it is directly applied

And Manfred’s statement early about the Astros being the only team under investigation was obviously ignorant

When Cora and Beltran are involved, he should have had the sense to realize he would not be able contain this

I like the Nelson signing, wish Yankees would sign Walker on a minor league contract/guaranteed after his injury. See how he does as he would be in the future fight for the 5th spot with Happ, Montgomery, German, and Garcia. If Walker pitches well then they have a solid/great rotation.

Remember Maldonado, thought they were platooning him, I don't think I remember reading about Garneau

Just looked him up, he seems more like depth. So Maldonado and Stubb's will platoon then

Nats are really solid top to bottom. I think they will still make a move at 3B, but not JD. Something like Kyle Seager to platoon with Castro.

Rizzo certainly isn't afraid to empty the farm system to grab veterans. Maybe the Nats will still feel Kieboom will be a project for the next season or two and would rather trade for Seager.

This lineup will be interesting for Martinez to work with each day. A lot of guys can play a lot of positions so playing the hot bat won't be a problem.

Thames can play 1B/OF
Castro can play 2B/3B/SS
Cabrera can play 2B/3B/SS/1B
Kendrick can play 1B/2B/3B/OF
Zimmerman will most likely be resigned to play 1B

So on any day Martinez will have 3 options at 1B, 2B, and 3B as the roster currently stands. I still think they get an everyday veteran 3B either by surprising everyone and signing JD or via trade.

HOUSTON -- A 2-year-old girl struck by a foul ball during a Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park continues to receive anti-seizure medication seven months after suffering a brain injury that could leave her at risk of seizures for life, an attorney for her family said.

In a report posted Tuesday, Richard Mithoff told the Houston Chronicle that the child's brain injury is permanent.

"She remains subject to seizures and is on medication and will be, perhaps, for the rest of her life. That may or may not be resolved,'' Mithoff said.

Expanded netting at all parks by start of season
Mithoff said doctors have described the effects of the injury to her central nervous system as similar to those of a stroke. The areas of the brain affected include those in which injuries can lead to seizures, loss of sensation and loss of spatial awareness, he said. Other potential effects include periods of unresponsiveness and staring spells, frequent headaches and night terrors, he said.

Doctors so far have not been able to determine if the child has cognitive deficits because of the skull fracture and brain injury resulting from the May 29 line drive to the back of her head off the bat of Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr.

"She is able to continue with much of her routine as a girl her age would do, but her parents have to be particularly vigilant -- as they are,'' Mithoff said.

No legal action has been started, and Mithoff declined to comment on any conversations he may have had with Astros officials. However, he has advised them that he represents the family of the child, whose identity has not been released.

The Astros have declined comment, citing concerns for the family's privacy.

Major League Baseball has announced that for the 2020 season all 30 teams will extend the netting that protects infield grandstands.

Look, I'm sorry the little girl got hit, but frick people for having their heads in their phones and not paying attention to whats going on right in front of them. Especially when responsible for another life.

this is such a garbage take on this

There are a million things happening around you at a game. An expanded net could have stopped this, and others, from happening incredibly easily

Have you ever been to an Astros game? There are graphics On the screens, there are people walking, there’s orbit and on and on and on that are intentionally taking attention away from the field and all it takes is half a second on a screaming liner down the line. Heck diving major leaguers miss on liners much less a 35 year old guy in sales with no glove

The Astros and all the other teams that didn’t have it extended should have done it on their own, but I dunno why MLB didn’t just make it mandatory.

Hadn't been a death at a game in almost 50 years prior to last year, shite happens. Yes players are stronger now and pitchers throw harder and the net is a good idea. But its asinine to not be paying attention when you have children with you.

And yeah I go all the time I'm sorry I'm not afflicted with the inability to understand the ramifications of a ball being hit at me. Doesn't matter though. Saw the article on ESPN and was reminded why I hate their site.

One of the Rays top pitching prospects, Matthew Liberatore, has been traded to StL. Still waiting on the return.

Hmmm, I’m gonna guess O’Neill, possibly Bader or Martinez. Hope to see Fowler thrown in
