Both around same expected dollar amount.

If you’re saying Wheeler and Bumgarner are expected to get the same type of money they are most definitely not

It’s odd, Wheeler’s career post ASB numbers read like an ace. Feasted on extended rosters a tad maybe? Phils are banking on him putting together a full year

Career post AS
310 IP (50GS)
2.90 ERA
1.19 WHIP
8.5 k/9

This is vs a career 4.39 ERA in 76 starts pre ASB

They are banking on being able to put all his raw stuff and talent together

I have no clue what he will get. I am just saying based on estimates by sites such as mlbtraderumors that had each one around $18-20 million a year.

#WhiteSox’s offer to Wheeler was for MORE than the $118M he will receive from the #Phillies, sources tell The Athletic. As @MarcCarig said, Wheeler’s wife is from New Jersey, and that proximity was an important consideration in his decision.

Obviously Wheeler. Bumgarner isn’t touching that number lol. And I don’t think people expected this for Wheeler a month ago but still think projections were 85-100 range while Bumgarner was 60-75

Similar AAV perhaps but guarantee I don’t think so. MLBTR had Wheeler at 100 Bumgarner at 72

Mets are stupid for not dealing wheeler last year. Now they have to face him inside the division for the next 5 years.

Oh I think bumgarner hits at least 100 mil here from either the white sox or twins. I think that’s a severe underestimation of what he will get

I think a lot of the deals have been higher than what people expected after last winter, still think Wheeler’s guarantee is 20% or so higher.

I’m interested to see if Bumgarner gets a 5th year though. I would have thought no way before the offseason but now it seems like esp if he’s getting 9 figures

23.6 AAV over 5 years sounds awfully steep for Wheeler.

Zack Wheeler posted a 3.65 ERA the last two seasons and made 60 starts.

For reference, that's more starts AND a lower ERA than any Phillies starter the last two seasons except for Aaron Nola
