Kimbrel looks much better lately. Go Cubs Go!
The fastball is finally starting to miss some bats the last two outings, something I had not see is other dozen or so appearances. So that's encouraging.
What's not...Cishek..might be winding down for him.
And Yu - Cat hits 97 with the fastball but gets scared to throw it when things get tight and teams sit on his offspeed stuff. Holland - not sure why they picked him up, I saw the Giants players licking their chops when he came in.
Finally, sweet Catwoman tat on the Giants starter Rodrigues last night....Pudge's son.

Im still exhausted from that one. What a bonkers game

I know it's the rule , but I hated the game being called like that last night. 5-3 going into the 8th isn't insurmountable.
Oh well. Series win.

especially considering we started to get things going later in the game.

I know it's a small sample size, but Dylan Carlson just keeps mashing in AAA. He's now hitting .552/.606/.931 in his first 7 games with Memphis.
I've already conceded that the Cardinals will not get him up to the majors this season. But the kid should be in St Louis on Opening Day next year, and playing.

Which is beyond dumb right? We both know they won't do it, but they should. You play for this year and set yourself up for next year.

IDK, hes only 20, and he just made the jump to AA. He'll get a shot in ST but I dont expect to see him till 2nd half of next year.
This is why Ozuna is interesting. If we dont plan on re-signing him, would you have been ok with trading him even with the playoff chances?

If this were happening in June rather than with a little over 5 weeks left of the season, I would 100% agree with you. Because of the timing, I only like 80% agree with you.
The fear is burning an option year or starting his service time too early. I get the service time thing, the option year thing is dumb.
With Ozuna back, Fowler playing well in the leadoff, that leaves one OF spot to get ABs with Bader there and ONeill and Martinez close to being back. So they can cobble together a good enough OF for the next 5 weeks that won't have Carlson sitting on the bench in St Louis or learning on the fly while we're trying to make the playoffs.
In theory, the picture should clear up some in the offseason.

Yes, but the timing of his injury prevented that, I think.
I'm on board with giving him a QO this offseason. If he takes it, awesome, another year of Ozuna playing for a contract, which is a good thing. If he doesn't, draft pick compensation.
If they do want to sign him, I don't know how long term you make that deal for. If the hustling Ozuna we're getting this year is the guy they get over the life of the contract, I would be all for it. He's really good, and fun to watch. I just don't know if that's going to be the case.

Management was not happy with Ozuna, and especially the way he chose to rehab in off season. Mo, while visiting one of the latin cardinal camps/teams, made a special visit to him, and he was half assing his rehab.
They were not happy, at all.

Hendricks tosses a gem.
7 IP 3H 7 K 0 BB. Cubs starters have not been walking people at all lately.
Suppose Kimbrel not working two days in a row?

Correct. Current plan is a spring training invite for Carlson to make the roster next year. They think he could be starting next year.
Gorman is 18 months out right now, so another year and a half is the plan for him.

The Cubs have won a 1-0 game.

On 2 hits. Poor Giants should have sold.

I also like Carlson more. He's much better making contact, can run a bit, and can play all over the OF. Gorman is still striking out 1/3 of the time in low and high A. I was disappointed Arozerena was quickly sent down. He deserves a longer look.

Arozarena shouldn't have been called up IMO, there are no at bats for him up there.
Fowler is crushing it at leadoff, Ozuna is permanent so that leaves you one spot between like 4 guys.
Which is why Ozuna is long gone and we won't even make an attempt there, and we will still likely need to trade another guy as well.

At the time Bader was in Memphis though, so the ABs were there. They were just given to Tommy Edman (or really Matt Carpenter, since Edman should have been at 3rd).
I agree they aren't really there now, which also sucks for Lane Thomas.

I would have left Bader down in Memphis and kept Arozerena. Trading Martinez will free up one spot. I would have moved O'Neill or Bader for a pitcher at the deadline. I'd move Wong to leadoff, and hit Fowler 2nd.

I would not have at all, give me Bader 10/10 times.
Alright ya lost me now.
