Wong has been hot since the break. He should be hitting much higher than 6th or 7th. I love Bader's energy, but making contact remains a problem. Moving some of the excess OF's could have improved the rotation. I don't want to see Wacha getting torched anymore.

But why are you moving a thriving Fowler from leadoff? Just dumb no offense.

Because Wong has been hitting much better. Wong raised his average from .250 from mid July to .275 now.

I agree it's dumb hitting Wong so low in the lineup when he continues to hit. But it's good to see you are a bigger believer in Fowler than I am. I could live with Fowler at leadoff and Wong 2nd.

Fowler is exceeding at leadoff right now, you don't mess with that.

Last time they tried Wong at leadoff it started his career worst tank that sent him to Triple A for a few.

Then hit Fowler leadoff and Wong 2nd. I'm just skeptical Fowler will keep hitting close to that clip the rest of the season.

Well I don't think Wong will either for that matter. He does this then goes ice cold for 2 months every time.

I can accept that. Every time I think he's going to turn the corner he takes a nosedive for months. I do like that he's stolen 17 bases and just 2 caught stealing. It just seems like the offense has stunk most of the year with Fowler hitting near the top of the order.

Yeah it's kind of weird that we steal the 2nd most bases in the NL and it's a decent part of our game despite it being considered "dead" by others.

And then not only that but Carlson is gonna swipe 20 this year in the minors, speed is a big part of his game as well and then Arozarena has 16.

It is interesting if you think about how good of a job Schildt has cleaned up the defense and baserunning. Yet it really hasn't equated to more wins though.

That's why I would be willing to move some of these excess OF's. Even if Bader or O'Neill gets moved, there is still Carlson, Thomas, Arozerena, and others behind them. Garcia has mashed too, but his walk to strikeout ratio is ugly. I think Carlson will be the best of them, but until he does shows what he can do at the majors we just don't know. I thought Rasmus was going to be a star at one point too. I have seen too many of these top prospect busts than I'd like to remember in recent history.

Yeah didn't we go from worst to first defensively? I think we're tops in all of baseball but maybe just NL. Crazy.

Per ESPN, the team was worst in fielding percentage last year. But 1st this year.

Another rain delay tonight? I did enjoy listening to Buck call the last 2 innings of Game 7 in the 1982 World Series during the delay last night. I wish KMOX would do that more often.

That honestly isn't too wild. Team defense is usually a pretty volatile year to year thing

Cards take game 1 from the Rocks off of Fowlers game winning 2 run shot.

Outide of that strange implosion against Cincy a couple of weeks ago the Professa has been very good...interesting he's never made an all star team.

Yeah, Joe said he had worked 3 of the last 4 games and they were not going to use him. Surprising use of restraint by Joe, who again may be one of the worst managers at handling a pitching staff as I've ever seen.
