As to why this has not happened before, mostly the video and media has gotten so much better in the past few years with HD and such that it makes reviews that much better.
The call, while displeasing to the audience, is correct and it took real balls to make said call in such a high profile race.

I understand the call. I think it is a shame it happens. Would war of will won without it. Don’t know. But I know country home would not have. Not mad but won’t care anymore about the next 2. Would have been something if Omaha beach is able to run next race against maximum security. Would have been a big story line.
