Sorry for not updating yesterday, Mardi Gras got in the way.

On Monday teams in the OP went 1-2.

ULL got a win over Appalachian State 77-62. The Cajuns have now won four in a row and are back at .500 in conference at 8-8.

ULM lost to Coastal Carolina 72-77. The Warhawks drop to 2-14 in league play.

Grambling fell to Mississippi Valley State 80-84. The Tigers drop back to .500 in SWAC play at 8-8.

I don't believe anyone was in action last night.

The only team in action last night was LSU and the Tigers broke their losing streak with a 92-82 win over Tennessee. LSU is now 2-15 in SEC play.

Lots of action involving state teams tonight.

Tulane (2-14) travels to take on Memphis (8-8). Tulane looks to snap a two game losing streak on avenge a loss to Memphis earlier this year.

ULL (8-8) hosts Texas State (10-6). The Cajuns have been playing better ball lately as they have won four games in a row. The Cajuns won the first match up against the Bobcats earlier this year.

ULM (2-14) welcomes UT-Arlington (13-3) to Fant-Ewing. The Warhawks look to upset the top team in the Sun Belt. The Mavericks won the first match up in January.

Southeastern (8-9) makes the drive down I-55 to take on UNO (12-4). Both teams are looking to bounce back from a loss their last time out. The Privateers won the first game of this series in February.

Nicholls (7-9) heads west to face Lamar (8-8). Nicholls have won their last two games and look to make it three in a row tonight.

Northwestern St (5-11) is also on the road to face Stephen F. Austin (11-5). The Demons knocked off the top team in the Southland last time out and look to knock off the second place team tonight.

McNeese (4-12) heads to Huntsville to take on Sam Houston St (9-7). The Cowboys could really use a win as they have lost their six games.

Southern (10-6) travels to face Prairie View A&M (8-8). The Jags look to bounce back from a loss last time out and hold on to their third place spot in the SWAC.

Grambling (8-8) hosts Alabama State (6-10). The Tigers are also looking to bounce back from a loss and separate themselves from a few other teams they are currently tied with in league play.

Jay Wright scored like 17 points in 4 minutes as part of our comeback last night. It was crazy.

Big win for SLU last night. It's nice to finish the season above .500. Basketball is the only one of the big 3 men's sports to struggle, but hopefully Ladner finally has them turning the corner.

UNO clinched a share of the Southland last night with SFA's loss. Can claim sole ownership of the title with a win on Saturday.

Suck at football, suck at basketball and suck at baseball. What is ULM good at?

Did you hear how Nicholls was led to believe they had made the Southland tournament but then called two hours later and told it was a mistake by the league?

UCA, now losers of five-straight, could do nothing but get on the bus, make the long drive to Conway, and think about next season.

Steve East, UCA's Sports Information Director, began looking through the various scenarios to pass the time. According to the Southland Conference, the two-way tie could not be broken between Nicholls and UCA on the highest seeded team they both played twice. As the release above states, Nicholls and UCA both went 0-2 against UNO and both split with Southeastern Louisiana.

So in order to break the tie, the league release says Nicholls' single loss to SFA trumps UCA's 0-2. Except, Nicholls and UCA played another team twice, and the league completely missed it. Northwestern State, who UCA lost to on Saturday, was played earlier in the season by the Bears and twice by Nicholls. The Colonels lost twice, the Bears lost only that final match.

Phone calls were made, freak outs and double-checking of every outcome ensued, and the Southland Conference didn't release the official Katy bracket until nearly 11PM.

Oh, and Central Arkansas was the 8th team on the bracket. Steve East is literally the team's MVP and he hasn't played a single second on the court.

And for a couple of hours, Nicholls thought they were in.

There are two teams in action tonight as the SWAC tournament gets under way. First round games are on the higher seeds home court in this tournament. (Game times are central)

#3 Southern hosts #6 Jackson State tonight. That game is at 7:30pm and I believe can be viewed on watchESPN.

#5 Grambling travels to #4 Prairie View A&M. That game is scheduled for 8pm and I believe you can view that one on watchESPN as well.
