Since we're about halfway through the college basketball season and the football season is officially over, figured I'd start a thread about basketball teams for schools in Louisiana. Below is kind of a general overview as to where everyone stands. If anyone sees any incorrect info let me know and I'll update. I'm organizing the teams by conference and standings.

Teams on the left are the home team. I put everything backwards and don't feel like fixing it.
Anyways, curious if people think we'll have some state schools in the tournament. Looks like there a few schools that could contend for the Southland. Looks like the Jags may have a shot in the SWAC. Any players to watch? Things to know?
I'll try to update this regularly, probably the beginning of each week at least, to keep the standings and RPIs up to date.

Yeah. It's not looking good.
I watch ULL games regularly and LSU games when they're on TV. Don't know a whole lot about the other teams in the state. Was hoping people could fill us in. I really pull for all state schools to do well in basketball.

well if we're talking ALL Louisiana MBB... let's talk about the small schools too...
including...
the undefeated, #1 ranked team in the NAIA
ETA: it is a LSU after all

All discussion is welcome. I was more focused on teams that could play in the NCAA tournament should they win their conference, but NAIA discussion is welcome as well.

Nicholls is ranked higher than LSU.

I was surprised at Nicholls RPI as well. They played a pretty good OOC schedule though.

Nicholls may have hired themselves a good coach. They look better under Richie Riley. Not sure how long they will be able to keep him

If Northwestern State had Jalen west and Zeke woodly they would be a force to reckon with. Both are out with injuries

I think ULL has a chance to win the Sun Belt.
Considering we were picked to finished close to the bottom, this team has really looked solid.
Bryce Washington leads the NCAA in double doubles.
Louisiana also has 3 D-1 transfers sitting out this year.

What's the story there? Will they be returning this season?
Posted on 1/10/17 at 2:47 pm to CajunsTigersSaints
Yeah I'm surprised by the results so far this year. Especially after leaving the scrimmage when the transfers and freshmen beat the other guys.

is the team on the right the home team?

No, team on the left is home. I messed that up. And I believe that particular game was at a neutral site.

Yeah UNO is playing well. Don't have any bad losses so far this season.
Posted on 1/10/17 at 3:16 pm to burdman
Jay Wright has been very good this year at point guard. The freshmen are contributing well, too. Justin Miller, Hardy, Davis, and Brown are contributing and Evans is getting back into it from injury.
Washington is a beast. He reminds me of Augustin Rubit from South Al a couple of years back.
They're really fun to watch play

Two games with state teams tonight:
LSU @ Texas A&M - LSU looks to even it's conference record at 2-2, A&M is looking for their 1st conference win of the season.
Tulane @ USF - Both teams are 0-3 in conference, one team will break into the win column.
Also, I've updated the OP with individual statistics for any player in the top 50 of that stat. Got my stats from the NCAA website, so if there's a mistake it's on them

It is very surprising considering the loss of Shawn Long and the transfers not being eligible until next year. Facing those guys in practice everyday has to help.
Bartley, Miller and Hardy have been huge additions this season.

Hardy has picked it up at the perfect time because I don't know what's wrong with Bartley but he hasn't been very good in the last 6 games. He's shooting 32% overall, 19% from 3 and only averaging 8.8 points per game in that span. He was great before that though.
