So you are saying he was an average coach and did better with Shaq in his prime.
Def not a "good coach" like you said. He was just OK.
Bruhh yall are missing the point. I don't know a single fricking thing about Del Harris besides the fact that he coached the Lakers before Shaq went there.
Before he got there the Lakers were 33-49
In his 1st season he brought their record up to 48-34
In his 2nd season he brought their record up to 53-29
All of that was before Shaq came. Do you agree that watching a coach rebuild a team and increase their win total by 20 wins in just 2 seasons is much more attractive to a superstar FA then watching Byron Scott come in and in his first season lead the lakers to THEIR WORST RECORD IN TEAM HISTORY?
That's the only point I'm trying to make. Shaq came into a situation that was attractive. It was LA and he loved Jerry West AND the team was also progressing very well under a new coach.
All am I saying is that for the Lakers to be attractive again they need a coach that will lead them to 40+ wins to attractive a big FA. Which is something Byron Scott hasn't done in like the last 5 years as a NBA head coach. No one wants to come to a lottery team and try to rebuild unless LeBron walks through the door.

Marc Stein ?@ESPNSteinLine 47s47 seconds ago
ESPN sources say that Cavs, in addition to Joe Johnson trade, are also exploring a Jamal Crawford-for-Brendan Haywood trade with Clippers
LOL

Marc Stein is so late. Nets have already said JJ thing doesn't seem to be happening and the Clippers have reportedly said they have no intentions of giving up Jamal for Haywood.

Shaq choosing LA over the other places had everything to do with him hating Orlando and him loving jerry west and LA. I have never even heard him talk about del Harris like at all. If the lakers turn around this year, win 45 games and show all of our young pieces are moving forward, we are going to make a big time free agency signing in spite of Byron

Dude. Again. I'm not saying Del Harris in general. Just saying having a coach who is bringing the team up and just had 50+ wins is attractive.
You think Shaq would have came to LA in his prime if yall had just got a shitty new HC and after his 1st season he went 21-61?? Let's be real.
And I agree. If Scott gets them to 45 wins next year yall will definitely be a HUGE player in FA. But again. Let's be real. Byron Scott isn't getting yall to 45 wins especially in the West next season
If he does he should get some votes for COY

What do you mean "definitely" not the favorite? That's an inappropriate use of that word.
They have as much of an argument as any other Western conference team.

When you have to overexplain / backtrack maybe the problem is with your original post?
Don't care either way.

Love that he's coming to San Antonio. But that's insane to come on an ~$11 million dollar discount

Is this the most obvious case of ring chasing ever?

Marc Gasoline 105 million over 5 years correct?

They will be a 1 or 2 seed

I mean, I guess he wanted a ring and thought that he could still get $7M or so, but way overestimated what any contender could afford to give him.
I'm so split on how I feel about this, because that dude gave everything he had to NOLA when he was here and I'd love to see him get a ring but why did it have to be the Spurs?

Why not? Was probably Spurs, Warriors, or Cavs those are o ly teams I could pencil in for championship game and feel confident about.
