Listen, I'm no @WojYahooNBA, but pretty sure I just stumbled on a Lebron / Kevin Love meeting.

I guess that 3 PG experiment backfired. You go from 3 to 2 to a different 2 and now likely just 1

Yeah, it sounds like Butler wants out of Chicago asap but the only way he can do that is by signing a QO and leaving $80 million on the table.

He's most likely going to get the max qualifying offer, which means that teams have to at least offer him a 3 year deal, no options for less years unless he just signs the one year qualifying and goes to free agency as an unrestricted player next offseason.

Which he's not doing. So he'll sign the shortest deal possible, probably with a pill or something in that 3rd year, and Chicago will match, and then he can GTFO sooner.

However, I really think he will thrive under Hoiberg's new system.

You know it's a bad move when other teams' fans hope you make the move.

Yeah.

But look I'm sure the Grizz are talking to everyone about finding a shooter. So I'm sure they at least talked to the Nets. But how would they even absorb that salary? So I doubt its anything more than they talked.

But still, I would love it.

Sources say teams could not find workable trade framework, but Nets came away encouraged they'll ultimately find trade taker for J-Johnson

If they extend the maximum qualifying offer, the shortest deal he can be signed to is 3 years with no player option.

Depends on how badly he wants to get out of Chicago.
