1999 had to be the strangest postseason in NFL history

The NFC Title game was Rams vs Bucs and the final score was 11-6. The AFC Title game was Titans vs Jags. The Titans barely escaped the Bills in the Wild Card round on the Music City Miracle and come up a yard short from winning the freaking Super Bowl. The whole thing just sounds like a made up story.

The Jags rudely sent Dan Marino into retirement in the biggest arse kicking I have ever watched in the NFL in the divisional round. It was 62-7 and the Jags could have easily put 80 on the board that day.

The 1999 Jags were a great team who just didn't matchup well with the Titans for some reason. They were 15-0 against everyone not named Tennessee and 0-3 against them.

As a dolphins fan, I remember this arse whooping vividly. Worst game to be a fan of.

1982 playoffs had the Buccaneers, the Lions, the Bengals and the Browns.

That has to be some kind of record.

It was. They had an expanded playoff field because of a shortened season.

FWIW, Renaldo Wynn claims Gregg Williams told him that the Titans had stolen the Jaguars playbook. The Jaguars turned the ball over 13 times in their three losses against the Titans.

I'll never forget watching that Titans v. Jags AFC title game. I was in Kansas City in a Historic Suites top floor hotel room, and it was a complete blizzard outside.

It was the same storm that caused the car accident of Chief's linebacker and Hall of Famer Derrik Thomas. R.I.P.

I remember watching that game. The dolphins were tripping over their own dicks all day and the Jaguars even pulled most of their skill guys in the third and were still clapping cheeks.

Yeah, the odds of Tennessee's dominance over Jacksonville that year being a mere coincidence or "bad matchup" are slim. No question that Tennessee was a really good team (13-3), but Jacksonville played 18 games that year and the ONLY team they lost to...THREE TIMES...was Tennessee. The last two losses were complete blowouts where Jacksonville was held to their lowest point totals of the year (outside of a 6-3 game vs Baltimore).

Now, Jacksonville did play an incredibly easy schedule that season and Tennessee was far and away the best team on that schedule. But to lose three times to the same team, and only that team, for the entire season seems suspect.

I fully expect Roger Goodell to start an investigation into Gregg Williams posible playbook stealing for the 2009 Saints now. Saints will forfeit 2 1st round picks and the Patriots will receive them.

If I recall, the Titans were a physical team and they muddied up the game. The kind of team that could beat better teams but lose to bad teams.

Redskins were a botched field goal snap away from facing the greatest show on turf. That would’ve been an incredible NFC Champ game.

2011 had some underrated weirdness.

The 7-9 Seahawks beat the Saints in the Wild Card. The 6 seed Jets upset the Pats on their way to the AFCCG. The 6 seed Packers went wire to wire for a Super Bowl win, with every win on the road.

I went to that game and while the ending was exciting, the 1st half was a snooze fest. There wasn't a bye week between the conference title games and the Bowl, Titans were especially flat. Atlanta was freezing as an ice storm crippled the city, but it was still a fun trip.

Had Boselli on the OL, Brunnell was a damn good qb, Fred Taylor was FLorida Gator prime.

TB had a hell of a defense. I'm talking the old school late 80's NFC defense type that shut down teams.

Booger, Sapp, Lynch, Barber, Brooks, etc... with Dungy, Kiffin, Herm Edwards and Lovie Smith coaching them... solid.
