They had over 500 yards and were up 28-7 in the 3rd. They didn't almost lost, they gave up a long run on a bust and a couple of garbage TD's in the 4th.

Simple example, which is better for the resume, a 21-20 win vs the #5 team or a 42-14 win vs the #20 team?
The 21-20 win over #5

Easy
The 21-20 win over #5
Even if the 21-20 win involved a KO return TD and a Hail Mary to pull it out and the 42-14 game was 42-0 before garbage time?
Any higher ranked opponent us better, regardless of how strong a game the team played?

LSU went to the locker room up 20 vs Bama. When the final gun sounded they were literally one play away from losing.
I didn't watch much of the Auburn game, just enough to know Auburn was pretty pedestrian offensively. When the final gun sounded they were literally one play from winning.
Washington State was never in that position, and neither was anyone else on Nebraska schedule, including the team that won the National Championship the very next year... When the final gun sounded in their game, they needed 5 TD's and a fg just to tie.

What I am saying is beating 5 top 10 teams by an average margin of victory of 20 is > 4 top 10 wins with a margin of victory of 37
Both have high margins of victory, and one had an additional win
What I am saying is an average margin of victory in a season with 7 ranked teams of 25 is better than an average margin of victory of 38 with only 4 ranked wins

And I disagree. Winning one less game matters, but winning by 17 more ppg matters too.
You're the one acting like 5 beats 4 and ignoring Nebraska won those 4 by a much greater margin. I'd buy your resume argument better if you weren't selectively choosing your stats.

Where is this 20 point marching of victory for LSzu against top ten teams coming from?????

Until just now, I have never heard an argument beating the 21 team will help a teams standing/resume more than beating the number 5 time
Regardless how the games went

Beat Bama by 5
Uf by 14
Clemson by 17
Uga by 27
Oklahoma by 35
Math tells you average margins of victory is 20

Really?
You think it's crazy to think that a 70-0 blowout of the #20 team would be better for a resume than a ugly 7-6 win on a fluke TD vs a #5 team?
Yeah, we just see it differently.

I mean I haven’t ever even heard it hinted at that someone is using a win over #20 d more impressive than a win over #5

Just want to put names on this
Y’all think a 42-14 win over 19 Appalachian state, 20 navy, or 21 Cincy helps a teams resume more than a 21-20 win over 4 UGa, 5 Florida, or 6 Oregon?
That’s yalls actual argument? Could y’all imagine if people really thought this?

You say the above but try to marginalize LSU's win with the statement below
quote:
Again, if Bo Nix isn't a freshman and Tua and the punter don't drop the ball, we're not having the conversation.

Resume from the standpoint of quality of teams they defeated, I won’t argue that.
Quality of teams they beat and the dominance with which they imposed on those teams, I mean a lot of legendary teams have incredibly valid claims to that, 95 Nebraska and 72 USC comprising two of them.

Those two things are not contradictory. I'm not sure what your point is.

@ all these butthurt fans of other schools trying to marginalize what is easily the best season ever from easily one of (if not the) best team ever.

My whole family is from Nebraska. I was born/raised here.
I have a group message with a bunch of cousins that have been husker season ticket holders for a long time.
We've never discussed this. And they all rooted for LSU.

I would say mid 80s Miami were the best. They were killers, a college football version of Oakland Raiders, the real ones.
