Ahman Green went to a couple probowls. Some of them flamed out in the NFL because they were psychopaths that Osborne let run amok.

A 6-5-1 MSU team That's a great Neb team but this is not one of their major accomplishments
Let’s do some football math. Nebraska beat MSU by 40, LSU beat them by 19. Are the 2019 LSU Tigers 21 points better than the 1995 team, lol.

Roughly 220 times doing mental math between Frazier and the backups

The State of Nebraska hasn't had a single 5-Star recruit since then.
That team was loaded with Ca, Fl. and Texas talent and then Nebraska role players.
Frazier was from Florida, Phillips from CA., Green from NE.
Sidenote, 3-8 Wazzu (who lost to 2-9 Pitt) played Nebraska tougher than overrated 1995 Florida.
SEC was in a down-cycle and not the SEC of the late 2000's.
It took Stoops and a defense to get Florida elite the next year.

Of the 32 five-star visitors since 2002, six (18.8 percent) chose the Huskers. The last one they landed was Green in 2011, and he eventually transferred to TCU. The last five-star to complete his career at NU was Steinkuhler, who was a member of the 2008 class. Other five-stars that signed with NU: Maurice Purify, Andre Jones, Marlon Lucky and Zackary Bowman (Lucky the only high schooler among them).
To be fair Osborne was known for taking low rated classes and making them into all Americans

Everything is different now from just 25 years ago. Yeah, there was the occasional physical freak of nature on a couple different teams. Now there are entire teams full of those freaks. Strength and conditioning has come so far that average teams now could beat really good teams from times past strictly because of that. You don’t have a guy on the cutting edge of nutrition and strength, you aren’t going to win, no matter how good your game plan is.
There are lots of old games in youtube. The physical discrepency is really noticeable. Teams from the seventies look like HS teams. Scrawny, except for the occasional freak of nature. By the eighties they're getting bigger, but a 250 lb lineman was an average size. With rule changes in the nineties the size really took off, but the big guys were fat. Now those guys are big and can run 40 yards downfield to catch a ballcarrier or make a block.

That is one of the reason Nebraska was so good in the 90s. Their big men were athletes. Not just fat guys. They were very mobile and strong.

This is what gets me the most about the 1995 Nebraska argument. Of their 12 wins, 8 of them came against average teams. They were basically 2018 Clemson, but with 2 more Top 10 wins instead of only 2.
They still handled their business, and blew out some good teams, but they steamrolled a bunch of ordinary teams, and sprinkled in the few juggernauts at the end.
It just makes me wonder how they would be viewed if Florida was the only Top 10, or even the only Top 25 win on that schedule. Does that change the perception alittle?

What kind of offense were they running?
They had a power run game that utilized the option from the I-formation.

They played and beat four teams that finished in the AP Top 10 by an average score of 49-18. They defeated #2 Florida in the Fiesta Bowl by a score of 62-24. Seven of those points were given to Florida by a kick return for a TD and Nebraska was on the goal line with their third string when the game ended.
Yeah...they played some softies, but when they played the best teams on their schedule, they annihilated them by scores of 44-21, 49-25, 41-3, and 62-24.

SEC down cycle? Florida finished 12-1 and Tennessee finished 11-1.

They are the best team in CFB history because they were a NFL minor league team. Tom O was so sketchy the NCAA had to implement and close rules. I am sure their payroll was fantastic. Lawrence Phillip's almost kill his girlfriend before the 97 championship game and he still played.

When did the schollie limits come into play? I feel like when I was young, teams like Nebraska were loaded with 100 guys.
McElroy said this morning you may think other teams were better because of how guys performed in the NFL, but on resume for one single year, this was the best season ever.

It was the partial scholarship he utilized. Their backups would have started at any school.
