Only in 2020 can lining up and running over your arse be a gimmick.

They'd probably get flagged for unnecessary roughness if they tried to play that style today.

If you truly want to do the time machine retardation test:

Their offensive line averaged 289 pounds

If they truly tried to run the Power I against guys today with that line they would be fricking steamrolled

They weren't a pure option team. They were a power run football team that utilized the option as part of their playbook. It wasn't the main stay of their offense. They ran many more dives, counters, and delays/draws than they did the QB option. Go and watch some of their highlights.

This year’s LSU team had the most impressive season, but that’s not the same as being the best team. That Nebraska 95 team was pure dominance all season from beginning to end. The Wazzu game was not close. Frazier was banged up and had a bad wheel but had to play because Berringer had an even worse leg injury and was out for a few games. I remember reading somewhere that through 11 games, Nebraska’s starters had outscored their opponents something like 538-42. Many people that year were saying that Nebraska's first string was #1, and their second string was #2. Saying they wouldn’t beat this year’s LSU team is like saying Jim Brown or Sammy Baugh wouldn’t dominate today’s game. That doesn’t mean they’re still not some of the GOAT. Compared to their contemporaries, they were the most dominant, just like Nebraska 95.

Yeah, but that's only 4 starters. The 5th guy was 175 pounds, so he brought the average way down.

I didn’t make my post clear

The average offensive line during their day was 289in college(6’3” 299.5 in the nfl). And defensive lineman matched

Of course Nebraska was able to maul over their competition, they had the size of a modern day offensive line

If LSU’s offensive line got to play in 1995, they could simply run the power i as well. I don’t think people, even the ones claiming to have watched 1995......, realize how much bigger Nebraska was than everyone

But as big as they were for back then, they were average for today’s size

301 is the average today(2016) a whooping 12lbs difference and still waaaaay smaller than what 95 NU had

You know why I say they're the best ever?

Because going into that game, I was ready to argue Florida that year was the best ever. I was sitting down getting ready to blow that slow bunch out and win a national championship.

I sat in shock as the third quarter rolled on and it turned into borderline child abuse.

They beat me into submission as a fan and observer that night. I was never a big Nebraska fan, but they earned my respect.

Absolutely true. I still have that Nebraska team as the greatest. Florida was loaded with talent and Nebraska still beat the brakes off of them.

And our offensive line average is 6’4.4” 323 lbs.....

If you sent us in a time machine to 1995 we could run power I over everyone as well

Also, side note, Nebraska’s offensive line is 13 pounds lighter now than they were in 1995 I guess they lost their “corn”

Lost is the shuffle is the fact that their entire line was first year starters.

That explains a LOT.

Finesse and Nebraska go together like LSU and sobriety.

Yes, you will

Who on our line do you think won’t be drafted?

Cushenberry is going first round this year
Charles is leaving early and will be drafted this year
Lewis will be drafted this year
Ingram and deculous will be drafted next year
Adrian Magee from the rotation is the only lineman I could see not getting drafted

I haven't seen any of them mentioned in mock drafts or big boards but its early.

Nebraska's OL wasnt just drafted though. 4 of then became NFL starters and had pretty long careers(30 seasons combined)

The 98 Broncos offensive line weighed am average of 296 are you saying that team would be non-competitive today?

You haven’t seen Lloyd Cushenberry mocked? Or Saadiq Charles mocked?

Dude, they are going early (top 3 rounds)

I am saying they would struggle in basic run blocking schemes, yes

Thats IF you plucked them right out of 1998 and they came and played right away

So they have to play by 2019 rules? Can they play by 1998 rules? Interesting to see how modern teams would handle not being able to throw over middle of the field.
