I saw that posted in the ESPN comments section. That's insane. "Those same teams have been represented in the Finals in some way in 68 of 71 years. The other 3? Washington/Seattle, Washington/Seattle, Washington/Milwaukee." What can be done to make it a more even playing field?

In other words, 19 NBA teams have won NBA championships.

And 2 of them have 33. This is a wacky skewed ESPN type statistic considering 2 teams own more than half of the 62 stated....

Edit: So the Lakers and Celtics own 46.5% of every NBA championship ever won. That's honestly incredible now that I type it out.

Eliminate the lottery and give the worst teams the first picks in order of finish. Basketball can be changed by 1 player more than football or baseball. Giving the worst teams a legit All Star should even the field more so than it has previously.

But Lebron moving around and making the finals isn't cool

Magic plays his whole career with the Lakers.....cool.

Lebron working with the Cavs' team and front office...not cool.

Old people are retarded.

And the Yankees have won 27 WS titles and appeared in 40.

Cardinals have 11 WS wins and appeared in 19.

A's have 9 WS wins and appeared in 14.

Giants have 8 WS wins and appeared in 23.

There have been 114 WS.

So 4 teams have basically won half of all WS titles.

And 4 teams have been in 73% of World Series.

1. Eliminate the 7 game series in the playoffs

2. Take the top 16 teams regardless of conference and treat it like the sweet 16 NCAA tournament.

Guaranteed to have parity in a single elimination, but the nba would never go for it because of how much money the playoffs currently bring in.

I wouldn't mind if they went back to 5 games series in the first round. They should stick with 7 game series for the rest of the postseason though.

Horrible fricking idea. It would make the NBA regular season virtually meaningless. And the point of any sport is to determine who the best team is. Single elimination would be the worst possible way to determine the best team.

Never understood why any round should be different. Same with the old NBA.

5 game series undermines that.

It's like the CWS which use to be a one-off. What a gip.

Teams play 60+ games in College baseball and whomever had the hot pitcher that one day won the title? This isn't Little League.

Yep. That’s why New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles are dominating right now. Same with Brooklyn and Dallas. It’s all a script. Bottom five market Spurs have been the best franchise for well over a decade.

Interesting script.

This argument is retarded
What’s wrong with Magic staying with 1 team and would that be contradictory?

Anywho I can’t speak for all old people but I had no problem with LeBron signing with Miami, the Decision TV show was laughable and he deserved getting hate for that.

Durant though is a huge pussy for signing with GS

A real salary cap like the NFL uses would help as well.

So Lebron breaks the script..

And you still hate him?

ETA but Lebron could move up close to Shaq with a win against a Kevin Durant led Warriors.

The Celtic numbers are really mind boggling. 17-4 in the finals 3 of those 4 losses to the Lakers, 1 to the Hawks when they were still in St. Louis.

The Lakers are 16-15 in the finals 9 of those to the Lakers, 2 tot the Knicks, 2 to the Piston,b 1 to the Bulls, and 1 to the 76ers. They are 3-9 vs the Celtics, 13-6 vs everyone else. The only team they have a loosing record against besides the Celtics are the Bulls who they played in the finals only once.

I saw a stat the other day that said LeBron James now has more finals appearances (9) than all but 2 franchises (Lakers & Celtics).

I did not validate the stat but that is pretty incredible.

Basketball is a sport that can be dominated by one or two players on any given team. LeBron is the perfect example. MJ. Curry. They can dominate a game unlike other athletes in other sports. It's the nature of bball. Doesn't make it any worse, it's just a different sport. Get over it. NBA is the shite
