That's not the correct rule to use. It wasn't assessed because of a tv viewer like that rule implies. It was looked at in depth because of woods' post game interview comments.

He should be DQ'd

His post-round interview states that he knowingly dropped the ball 2 yards back from the original spot. It said nothing about him knowing that he should have dropped from the spot that the ball went in after hitting the flagstick. Who are you to say that he genuinely knew what he was doing when in fact he may have had no idea?

It's a shame that this controversy will mask the entire event until next year.
