it's all about your frame of reference

kinda douchey, but my boss is super wealthy and talks casually about numbers that make my head spin

it's just about the frame of reference

4 Quarterly bonuses are typically 3-5% of salary and end of year bonus is about 20%.

This of course depends on how well the company is doing.

I have a meeting with a client in a week where I will low ball unit fees and cost my employer $600k........I will ensure a contract due to low end costs but could have gotten better margins. That $100k will eventually cost them $1.4 million.

......of course I won't do that, but it's amazing how fricking stupid some executives are.

I'm angry and damned good at what I do.

I'm expecting 30k in two weeks. I will be upset if it is less than this figure.

Ranges from 4% to 15%. In the oilfield so even though we are breaking records financially this year, the price of oil is going to make them hesitant to give us much. Hopefully they keep up the stock options and year end 4% 401k contribution.

If your compensation is insufficient and unfair, resign and move on to an employer that values you as much as you value you.

Damn I knew I should've taken that offer at Cravath. But then I wouldn't get to experience the thrill that is exception day in division D. Life is all tradeoffs.

Firm's year end is in April and the max is 6.5% of base salary. Based on $s billed and efficiency on jobs so someone else's work could screw you over.

I should get around 4k though

Are we talking Christmas bonuses?

Or sales bonuses?

For hitting my sales numbers, I have the opportunity to make up to 75% of my salary in a bonus (though that will never happen unless the stars align completely). Most years I would stand to make anywhere between 16%-28%, this year being 24% as long as trends continue.

I've worked in multiple industries and the only time I ever got a monetary bonus for Christmas, it was a whopping $100.

I guess technically we don't get year end bonuses. Ours are always around Valentine's Day. For year end/Christmas, we usually get $100 check, a gift of our choice, and a badass party. Bonuses mid-February and raises in April.

You should resign and set your bonus check on fire out of principle. Sure it's a six-figure bonus, but you should go to another company where they will pay you what you truly deserve.

Just my two cents...

Ours isn't based on math.. basically ranked according to company "value" decided arbitrarily by Mgmt.

They don't give out anything above $3-4k max to select employees.

We're also a small business (<100 employees) that has a net profit of around $2-3MM annually.

Maybe your superiors have a good idea of what your hours are and bonus appropriately. Making sick bank and expecting even higher equivalent bonus seems a bit ridiculous. You could go work for PIMCO, be asked to start a new business line, do so with extremely weak results as far as asset accumulation, and get a $50M bonus. Go for it.
