My dad was a blue collar worker. He taught me how to think through building projects at an early age and I started buying tools early in life. Now I weld and woodwork as a hobby. I barter a lot of work. Got a free hunting spot 30 min from my house by welding the property owners gate up. Can hunt hog and deer anytime I want.
I’ve made some furniture and fixed some things for people. I don’t actively look for the work but I don’t pass up an opportunity when someone asks.

With 600k you can be doing 3k a month right now in VMFXX; practically zero risk

I run a bulldozer and excavator service on my off days from my real job. I don’t do it all the time but could with the way it’s grown. I expect it will increase more next year as well as word gets around. I’ve even managed to do jobs for a couple TD posters . I enjoy it but it’s not something I would want to do full time.

I started a handyman side gig but do a lot of plumbing and electrical work. I installed 6 water filters/softeners this year, helped with a kitchen remodel, a Tesla charger, wrapping up finishing a bedroom in a basement….about to start raising prices and bidding jobs at a higher rate now that I’m pretty steady

What are your dividend payers? I have double that amount in SoFi high yield and only make about 800$ a month

I am not. I am registered with the state(Pennsylvania) and insured. I basically stay away from any work that would require a permit like replacing a sewer tie in(although I’d love to try one—-plumbers charge 10-15k) or gas lines or panel replacements….I finished my basement and talked to my town inspector and he told me if anyone needs permitted work, they can pull it themselves and call for the inspection themselves….i plumbed my neighbors basement bathroom with this arrangement and it all went fine

Yes how does someone get started in this?

I’m still young in my career and haven’t built a good name for myself yet. But I am an estimator for theme parks (client side). A few others I work with have traveled the world and made LLCs to do estimating for those clients on the side. Cost control for major clients is a very sought after experience.
