I won't say what stocks you should buy but I will say that anyone who has any extra money laying around would be missing the chance of a lifetime not investing that money in the stock market in the next few days.

I missed this advice when I was in my 20's and 30's and some older friends tried to tell me to buy the dip. I thought of every excuse in the world as to why I shouldn't invest that extra money. Thankfully I've had several opportunities since then and made some money. This is the kind of dip that can make a very nice retirement fund from. I am sure everyone on this board already knows this but I wanted to put this out there for all the lurkers who may not be sure. BUY THE DIP!

I would start buying today and keep buying until I ran out of extra money. Don't think you can catch it on the way back up because you will have to have perfect timing for that.

Some of you guys have been saying this for a couple weeks.

You're going to run out of hands for that falling knife.

Agree. People said the same stuff in 2008. We just eclipsed Sept 29, 2008 on a percentage basis. That’s not a buying opportunity but a warning sign that things are about to get real bad.

I haven't been on here in a couple of weeks. You are right though I'm an old fool who doesn't know what I'm talking about. Save your money I'm sure you are already super rich.

A little over a month ago 30000 was imminent. The market is back under 24000 now. I'm wanting to wait and see if the market drops below 20000 before jumping in and dollar cost averaging with some of my own savings. In the meantime letting my 401k seize the buying opportunities.

DCA is fine. Posting "BUYING OPPORTUNITY" every other day from a 1k drop is a different ballgame.

All the people that have taken out a 401k loan are going to be feeling good about getting stocks cheaper

I didn't put it when there was a 1k drop. There was over 5k drop when I posted this and many great stocks are dropping with the sentiment of the market.

However I should have clarified that you should talk to someone who knows stock values before just dumping money in the stock market. There are many stocks that are a great value today. Even if they drop some in the next few weeks they are still a great value today.

Not sure how anyone thinks that BP is worth less today than it was after the Deep Water Horizon disaster? But, here we are. 8% dividend yield.

OXY is a bargain, around $18.50-ish right now and a 9.6% dividend yield

Oxy is actually yielding around 20% right now and there’s zero chance that’s safe.
