Just a vent post

Lost a lot today.

I’m just glad I didn’t go all in during the recent run up and still have some powder but this one hurt.

Feeling a bit gunshy so I’m just going to sit back and watch for a bit before putting any cash to work in stocks.

I’d wait to see what the Fed does. Could be a +1.0 or more raise in rates. This is NOT the bottom. IMO we will test June lows. S&P was roughly 3600.

I could see it crashing hard in the next two years... at best floundering for the next two years.

I invest longterm and don’t expect to cash out before 10 years.

I also have a small trading account (2.5% of total) that I use for my IBD Leaderboard stuff.

I’d rather not use Amounts but it’s over 2.25% of all investments. Much more than a few thousand.

I haven’t seen losses like this in one day since 08

I’m a long time fan of Bill O’Neil’s investment philosophy. Very principled, and most importantly, disciplined.

I understand. Seeing account values take a big hit is never a pleasant feeling. But if you’re not trading and don’t have to mark to market every day, it’s really not worth getting jazzed over. And I can almost promise you that in ten years, you won’t even remember a little bit about what happened in the equity markets today.

I lost 50% in 2008-2009 too. But if you just stayed in you mostly ended up fine unless you full ported Lehman or something like that.

Dude my Schwab account took a 6.02% haircut today and it has all blue chippers in it (apple, Walmart, Amazon - yeah probably too much retail) but I didn’t blink. Is what it is and will bounce back tomorrow probably.

I feel you man. Biggest losing Day i have had in my 4 years of investing. On a positive note i do have some cash but question is when to deploy it? I did sell a few stocks yesterday that ran up in the last month. They tanked today so i can almost buy them again where i got them about a month ago.

If this helps (saw your time horizon), I estimate ~20% of net worth today came from DCA through 2008 financial crisis.

Stay focuses on winning the war.

Hang in there.

Unless you sold, you still own exactly what you had at the end of last week. You shouldn’t have any money in the market that you might need in the next couple of years.
