Iran’s land against the straight is extremely mountainous terrain. Regionally proxy groups causing chaos against ships is a challenging issue.
Not when we take the gloves off.
The current regime will fall in Iran, and we will all be better on the other side.

short term price shocks are more important to consider than long term goals.
What are these specific long term goals you're referencing?

Good, I’ll be buying and reinvesting dividends at a discount.

People generally only think or care about themselves unless something directly affects them.
Limited emotional capacity. Also known as compassion fatigue.

Anyways, if you've been actively investing at least a year, you should know this very well.

#1 - this is not a war. It won't last another month.
#2 - Do you want Iran to have nuclear capabilities?
#3 - We won't have to escort tankers for long. We will just blow up anyone threating them from traveling safely.
#4 - Short term price increases are not the end of the world. You know nothing on economics.

All I know is this situation is very fluid and nobody really knows anything right now. Trump can tweet as much as he wants to manipulate markets but a certain point the air is going to come out.
Not creating any panic, but understanding bear case scenarios is important. Even in a casino market.

the Merrill Lynch speakers at the presentation I attended last week stated that ML's outlook was for a strong 2026 US economy at the beginning of the year and hasn't changed with the current ME activity

Maybe. But I just don’t see this lasting past March or April. If it does, shite will get real bad, real fast. But Trump has maintained this is a “short excursion” and I think his hands are tied enough to the market that he will right the ship (no pun intended) and end things before they escalate to full on war, boots on ground shite.
Whether or not that gets the Strait back open is another thing. But I think things will stabilize once the prices on everything scares the beejezus out of everyone and Iran feels good about themselves for a little while.

The most sobering part of this is the "simple tool" argument. We focus so much on high-tech missiles, but thousands of miles of desert pipelines are impossible to guard 24/7.
One guy with a drill or a wrench can cause a massive bottleneck. You can't just "escort" a pipeline that's buried in the middle of nowhere.

Not for me. I’m just sitting here waiting for the bottom. Then, I’m buying.

so you are already backtracking from the start of this thread. You people just crack me up. The sky is always falling and the fear mongering never stops. Anything just to oppose Trump. Like someone said If Trump found the cure to cancer people on the left would find a problem with it. Let this shite play out

How am I back tracking? What in my original post hasn’t been a serious discussion point both to the global economy and the stock market over the last week? Just because 3/4 of this website gargles Trumps ballsack doesn’t mean this isn’t a significant headwind against his administration currently.
