It’s hard to argue against that at this point, but do you have any insight as to why?
I saw this posted elsewhere on the board previously but didn’t see an answer. I’ve played with roku before and didn’t like the interface. I personally use fire tv. Most people I know that don’t use traditional cable/satellite are either on fire tv or Apple TV. The rest just uses their laptops/tablets. I don’t personally know a single person that uses roku.
There are also signs of people moving back to the fixed cable/satellite services, as those companies continue offering better incentives to reattract customers and the streaming services continue to get more expensive.
I know you’ve posted before about identifying companies that can disrupt the market and fend off competition. How/where is roku doing that? Is my admittedly small anecdote of not liking it and not knowing anyone that uses it just not an accurate reflection of its popularity?

Roku has seen the big picture.
They skipped trying to feel in people like Samsung and LG and went global as well as saturated the market TVs like TCL. They covered the rest of the market as a whole that no one tried to sign deals with. Pure volume.
They actually signed deals that Roku is park of the TV software wise. That as well as boosting the shite out of free content by buying out people and picking up material from companies that didn't work out on the cheap.
Think of it like free Netflix. Tons of stuff. Free. Their integration is well done. Hell both my dad and sister now have a Roku TV and they are the two least smart TV type people you'll ever meet.

Roku has 40% of the US streaming market.

First time posting. Good friend kept telling me about how legit the discussions people have on this forum and I have to agree. Been trading now for about 5 years on the side. Data analyst as a day job. Not an expert my any means but would like to get input on what I am seeing. Wont get mad for an honest opinion.
With Roku. I completely agree. This is a long term keep for sure. Fundmentals are there making it more attractive. I am more of a chart guy. I am looking for a good entry before earnings. I keep eyeing +-$450. What's your thoughts on it actually coming down to that range? Again, first time posting. Want to add a chart img so if I didnt do it right I apologize in advance :)

welcome
my only disappointment about ROKU is that I didn’t buy more ROKU.
it is a blue chip hiding in plain sight (just like Shopify) where the revenue ramp is just beginning to be clear

GTHX had good results after hours on Friday. They will presumably climb more on Tuesday
QS and BNGO also had good days Friday. We'll see if they maintain the momentum

Watching PLTR closely to load up even more.
Earnings tomorrow PM and then lockup expires Friday.
Earnings and guidance should be excellent, but lockup deadline could drive price lower.

These kinds of holidays annoy me.

I’m just not understanding the appeal to roku. When these smart TVs are in the majority of homes why do I need a roku stick anymore? I used to have one but with my smart tv I don’t need it anymore.

Yea, and most people have several in their house.

I have Samsung TVs and their smart technology absolutely sucks.
Amazon and Apple are 10x better, so I’d imagine the same for roku

Roughly 40% of the smart TV’s in the US market are currently running Roku’s OS.
ETA - This will likely increase as some of the other brands decide to stop running their own OS and “outsource” it to Roku or Android.

The only issue I have with Roku is the durability of their remotes...but then again I have a 4 year old and an 8 year old
But yeah, as the other guy said, Roku's interface is miles ahead of any other smart hub I've used

And their buyout prospects are also insane,if they chose that route.
