At some point, you have to recognize it's less about you and more about a broader risk pool management / strategy that the insurer wants to pursue.

Yea sure I’ll remind them that if I ever get a blemish on my record after they raised rates on me 40% for “broader risk pool management”

I priced out Progressive, Geico and All State.

For our coverage amount, you're looking at $400 a month any way you cut it.

Louisiana just sucks.

Talked to a doctor and business owner this week joining the trend and leaving the GNO area. Sick of crime, insurance doubling and 60% + property tax increases.
The carpetbaggers will be all that is left in all the “culture” of a crime infested cesspool of ruin.

Yes, but the “reforms “ that actually passed were watered down to avoid JBE’s veto. At the time, I wondered why they even bothered but ultimately realized that they didn’t want the public to perceive them taking a loss. So, “reforms passed” was the headline but they were mostly useless.

From the horse’s (LABI President, Stephen Waguespack) mouth:

quote:

“I’m just telling you it’s going to lower rates,” Waguespack said. “I’m telling you Erin, if we get past this and a year from now the rates aren’t down, I’ll be grabbing a tiki torch right with you going to the Capitol saying, ‘this didn’t work.’”

Trial lawyers certainly impact rates—there’s no denying it. But, people should stop pretending that’s the biggest factor.

We have a very high uninsured rate and about 40% of the people on the road have state minimums ($15k/30k) when the average used/new car price, respectively, is $35k/50k. People are driving on the roads without enough insurance and companies are just having to eat the difference or the whole bill. The state needs to start being more aggressive with getting people to have adequate insurance. Healthcare inflation being a runaway train doesn’t help either.

My coverage probably isn't like most. Currently paying $1,160.00 every 6 mo. Almost half my policy for uninsured/underinsured trash

But hey, at least it’ll all go towards the football program! Because that’s basically Louisiana’s economy.

This has always blown my mind, and it doesn't get near enough attention. This says so many things about Louisiana and the trouble it is in.

Because too many LSU fans care more about the football program than living a nice, affordable life with low insurance rates.

I get the sense that insurance companies are writing off Louisiana in whole.

The rates are insane.

If you want good coverage with a reputable insurance company, your premiums will be costly.

I don’t know how to put the genie back in the bottle but I feel as if we are sliding down a 3rd world slide.

3 vehicles and a 6yr old paid off 5th wheel went from $3200 to $3750 for the yr. My kids aren’t even driving age yet! I better pucker up!

What has changed out there? Are they trying to shed customers in Louisiana?

They pay the politicians that are in control of what they can charge.
