Self inflicted wounds hurt. How are you all riding this out? Are we in recession territory?

Same thing I always do in times like this.
I don’t look at my accounts and keep putting money in every month

I’m not directing this at the OP specifically and I’m not trying to be rude, but if you aren’t retiring soon or if you aren’t someone who earns their main income by day trading, why pay attention?

I’m assuming the OP is under age 60. You aren’t going to be drawing down your holdings for another 10 years at least, likely more like another 20.

I don’t think I’ve looked at my 401k since 2023.

You don’t make any moves when the market goes up 10%, so why not take a similar aloof approach when things fall 10%.

In the grand scheme of things when you start selling your holdings in 20 years, this is barely a blip.

The much more important things to worry about are your job security, inflation, etc.

There’s a segment of people treating the stock market like it’s gambling. When you’re making easy money all is dandy, but if you can’t handle times like these, you shouldn’t be taking those kind of risks in the first place.

I am retiring in two weeks. Is it OK if I’m a little aggravated?

You should be mostly in stable funds and bonds right?

Mostly? Depends on risk tolerance.

Regardless, if the last 3 weeks are the difference in whether or not a person can retire, said person doesn’t have a good plan.

not really if he is going from growth phase to income phase. he may possess some high yield volatile dividend paying ETF's which are taking a major hit right now. you almost have to trade these. They have to be watched closely. They are not just set it and forget it types.
