The purpose of investing in companies is to deploy capital in the hope that it returns to you gains in the form of more money then you invested.

So why would I invest in something where the CEO is openly working towards making my capital investiture worthless?

Having a hard time comprehending this logic.

I don’t understand how UBI will ever work. It surprises me that Elon makes it sound like this will be a good thing for society.

I honestly think it’s pie in the sky and will never happen but Elon is a hell of a lot smarter than my dumb arse

IDK about that.

The dude has the will and money to make just about anything he dreams up work, at some level.

if money is power then yes he has more power than any single person in the history of the world. I’d suggest that’s not really what we want, but nobody would listen

I'm as anti UBI as they come but what other option is there if 50% of jobs are taken away?

If money is not obsolete and the company does well, you profit.

If money is obsolete because AI and robots make goods and services so abundant that people won't need traditional income, who cares?

For that pesky time between now and utopia. I have little doubt that AI will produce abundance, although the timeline is not clear or what that transition will look like.

Makes perfect sense to me. If money will become obsolete, the obvious move is to exchange it now while you still can for a larger share of access to resources and means of production.

Damnit! I'm an index investor but now you got me itching to go buy some SpaceX.

Jensen Huang said AGI had arrived. If so, Nvidia should be essentially worthless fairly soon. Many companies will be if he’s right.

If the Musk/Huang rhetoric is true, the stock market is the past in terms of storing value. Hard assets, specifically the ones that support infrastructure/energy, are the future stores of value. Think silver, copper, platinum, uranium etc.

Won't they plummet in value in this future abundance scenario where robots are mining asteroids?

Notice he isnt cash rich. His wealth is tied up in high growth potential industries. Musk just announced he was giving away $10 billion of SpaceX stock to American kids and more to follow.
