V should run just fine with consumer confidence. The economy is chugging along but I’m also keeping an eye out for any spikes in consumer card default rates.

I forwarded him this question. He said that he likes Visa fundamentally and that his only concern is a tech giant undercutting them because the merchant fees are so high.

For me a consideration would be to buy shares of stock and buy put spreads as a hedge against them. If Apple one day says they are exploring becoming a credit card company then prepare to see Visa go down 10% in one day.

I'm pretty sure it had to do with his making fun of or being critical of the people in Houston who got flooded last year by Hurricane Harvey. (On the O-T Board.)

I remember after one of his posts where he said he didn't view it as gouging if he raised prices in his stores during the storm's approach and aftermath and he posted something akin to "too bad if they're too poor to pay the higher prices" an Admin posted something like "You've made this easy for me."

And, POOF!! DBF was gone!

Well the point he was making is that the refining spreads get way out of wack and the pass that on to the stores. The stores are not allowed to raise prices and take the hit on the gas.

Considering he owns multiple gas stations and brags about his wealth, he should be hedging with gasoline and diesel futures instead of coming across as a jerk to the people of Houston during a hurricane.

That's what I'd do, at least.
